I am a recent graduate of Clemson University where I received my Bachelor of Science from the Calhoun Honors College in Bioengineering with a focus on biomaterials and a French minor. Since graduation, I have worked as a Covid-19 clinical lab technician and as a medical assistant intern to gain clinical experience as I prepared to take the MCAT in the summer and apply to medical school. As a premed undergrad, I volunteered to tutor small groups of students in the basic sciences such as organic chemistry and biology. I also participated in a local outreach program for underrepresented children where I taught children about the interesting future of STEM. It was here that I learned how I enjoyed teaching others as well as expanding opportunities for underrepresented students such as myself being a Latina in STEM. Today, I tutor a broad range of subjects and I am most passionate about teaching Portuguese since I am originally from Brazil as well as English, Spanish and French. Besides languages my interests are mainly in and biology/chemistry for school or MCAT prep. In my experience helping students prepare for tests, my approach is to take things one step at a time by breaking down concepts into mini-lessons, and then find ways to make the content relevant and fun to the learner so that they take an interest in what they are learning to master it and succeed.
