As a retired high school teacher with 30 years of experience, I am excited about the opportunity to apply my skills and experience as an online tutor. In addition to my Masters Degree in Secondary Science, I also have a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. My teaching experience and NYS certifications are in Earth Science, Biology, Environmental Science, and General Science. I believe everyone should be a life-long learner and science is a subject that gets students excited to develop questions about the natural world. I am passionate about teaching and helping students to love learning, and I would cherish the opportunity to have students learn and love their natural world.

AP English Language and Composition Tutor • +11 Subjects
I graduated from St. Louis University in 2011 with a BA in English Literature. I have always had a passion for everything involving the English language, and I spend a good amount of free time reading books and writing fiction. My love for the English language took me to Korea, where I taught everything from Phonics to Grammar to Essay Construction. My classes were fairly small, which helped me develop my one-on-one teaching skills. Also, I learned to overcome many obstacles that occur in the teaching-learning relationship.I think it is imperative that a student feels comfortable with his or her tutor. While I expect hard work and determination from my students, I am still an easy-going individual who is not judgmental at all. I am fun and laid back, but knowledgeable and committed to education.I can tutor anything related to English, though I certainly specialize in Writing. I am also qualified and available to teach ACT prep. I have an understanding of standardized tests and can help students formulate effective strategies to maximize their scores. As I mentioned earlier, reading and writing fiction have to be near the top of my hobbies list. Also, I would add listening to live music, playing and watching soccer, and collecting records to that list.At the end of the day, I am a guy who enjoys life and learning. I believe I am a good tutor, because more often than not those two qualities are contagious.

10th Grade Reading Tutor • +51 Subjects
I am a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a focus on child and adolescent development. I have been tutoring students for over 10 years, the ages of the students ranging from kindergarten to college. Although I tutor a wide array of subjects and grade levels, I enjoy teaching middle school math, sciences, and history the most. I believe that learning should be fun, interesting, and relatable, and that if students are able to understand information as it relates to them in the real world they are more likely to grasp complex concepts. It is always exciting to watch a young student develop a love of learning or master a subject that they struggle with, and it feels very rewarding for the both of us when it finally "clicks"! During my free time I enjoy traveling and exploring new places, hiking, photography, playing tennis, and playing with my pets.

I am a motivated and enthusiastic tutor with over 20 years of experience in tutoring students of all different ages. I have served as everything from a full-time classroom teacher, to a small group mentor, to a one-on-one tutor. I have mentored virtually every age learner, from Pre-K to adult, and have experience with everything from home-education to private and parochial schools to public school education. When I'm not teaching, tutoring, or mothering my own 7 children, I enjoy a variety of activities. I love being outdoors in general, but my passion is for rock climbing. I also enjoy reading all kinds of literature and philosophy and cheering my kids on in their myriad sports and activities. My number one priority in teaching is to empower my students to understand how they learn best and what motivates them. I want my students to feel a passion for learning, even if they do not feel it for every subject. I have been told that I bring energy, enthusiasm, and creativity to the learning environment, and that these qualities are contagious. I hope to pass this enthusiasm for learning on to my students and that my students will, in turn, pass it on to those around them.

I am a student at the University of Maryland, College Park. As a Banneker Key scholar and member of the honors college, I have been introduced to so many amazing and formative opportunities thus far. I am currently on a pre-med track working towards a B.S. in public health science. I began tutoring my peers in high school and fell in love with it ever since. It brings me so much joy knowing that I can help someone reach their full potential. My favorite subjects to tutor are math and organic chemistry, because there are just so many different strategies and approaches towards each problem. It's almost like solving a puzzle. My style when it comes to tutoring is practice heavy, because practice really does make perfect. Outside of academia, I am really into personal training and music production.

While I have only been educating students in writing for roughly 5 years, I have been a writer for my entire life. Ever since I could hold a crayon, I was drawing pictures and telling their stories. I believe writing is not only an important real-world skill, but it is also a valuable outlet for one's art and expressing one's emotions. I want to help others find their voice in their writing, and I want to help my students express their thoughts and opinions as clearly as possible so that they may best represent themselves in their academic, professional, and creative writing. In addition to writing, I have experience helping students improve their reading, speaking, argumentative, presentation, and acting skills. I have a passion for the theater, and I have been involved in a number of speech and debate programs. Therefore, if you need any help expressing yourself, be it through a class presentation, an important speech, or even a live debate or acting performance, then I am happy to help you build those skills and your confidence as well.

I am a development economist holding an MPA from Columbia University, and an MA in Economics from the American University of Beirut. During my time at Columbia, I was a Teaching Assistant for Microeconomics, and previously tutored high school and college students for a variety of economics and mathematics courses.
