As a retired high school teacher with 30 years of experience, I am excited about the opportunity to apply my skills and experience as an online tutor. In addition to my Masters Degree in Secondary Science, I also have a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. I graduated from St. Louis University in 2011 with a BA in English Literature. I have always had a passion for everything involving the English language, and I spend a good amount of free time reading books and writing fiction.My love for the English language took me to Korea, where I taught everything from Phonics to Grammar to Essay Construction. My classes were fairly small, which helped me develop my one-on-one teaching skills. Also, I learned to overcome many obstacles that occur in the teaching-learning relationship.I think it is imperative that a student feels comfortable with his or her tutor. While I expect hard work and determination from my students, I am still an easy-going individual who is not judgmental at all. I am fun and laid back, but knowledgeable and committed to education.I can tutor anything related to English, though I certainly specialize in Writing. I am also qualified and available to teach ACT prep. I have an understanding of standardized tests and can help students formulate effective strategies to maximize their scores.As I mentioned earlier, reading and writing fiction have to be near the top of my hobbies list. I have been tutoring students for over 10 years, the ages of the students ranging from kindergarten to college. Although I tutor a wide array of subjects and grade levels, I enjoy teaching middle school math, sciences, and history the most. I am currently on a pre-med track working towards a B.S. in public health science. I began tutoring my peers in high school and fell in love with it ever since. It brings me so much joy knowing that I can help someone reach their full potential. My favorite subjects to tutor are math and organic chemistry, because there are just so many different strategies and approaches towards each problem. It's almost like solving a puzzle.
