AP Statistics Tutor • +7 Subjects
I recently graduated from Cal Poly with a Bachelor of Science in Statistics. I have been working with children for about 8 years as a tutor, nanny, and camp counselor. I spent my last few summers working in Switzerland as a camp counselor with children from all over the world. I loved learning about their cultures and languages while helping them improve their English skills. During high school, I tutored elementary and middle school children living in transitional living facilities in a variety of subjects. Throughout college I tutored other college students in statistics, algebra, and edited essays. I have always had a passion for math and statistics but also enjoy the writing and editing process. While working with both privileged and underprivileged children, I have learned that each child has a unique way of learning and with patience any student can succeed. At times, I struggled in school and know the feeling of frustration and defeat that come with not understanding something. However, because of this I also know how amazing it feels when you experience that "light bulb" moment. I believe these moments can determine a student's confidence and that they should be celebrated more enthusiastically. It's not just enough for a tutor to be this way. We (tutors) must teach our students to be patience with themselves and to have confidence in their abilities as well.

Hi! I'm an engineering student from Georgia Tech, and I love to teach. In high school, I participated in numerous math competitions such as AMC/AIME and ARML and led my schools math team for 2 years. My style of teaching involves prioritizing intuition and understanding over memorization. It's imperative for you to know WHY something is important over how to do it. I also will often teach the same concept in different ways depending on how you like to learn best.My goal as an instructor is to get to know you as a person before I jump in with formulas, equations, and definitions. In addition to math, I also like to teach physics, test prep, and video/audio editing.

I graduated from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester MA with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Russian. I was a member of the Division I Track & Field team and qualified for All-Patriot League Academic Team, Dean's List and Dobro Slovo (Russian Honor Society). While I truly enjoyed my time studying the Russian Language, my true passion lies in Finance and Economics.I currently am a full time financial professional working for The Vanguard Group in Charlotte, North Carolina. I love analyzing economic data and using that data in every day conversations and to shape my decisions. When it comes to tutoring I have a very similar approach. I will analyze where the problem areas are, or where a student may be struggling, and use that information to in turn teach and educate the student. Every student learns differently and it's important to identify how that student learns so I can best utilize my tools to teach as effectively as I can.

Accounting Tutor • +32 Subjects
Hello! My name is Noah Damiani, and I want to take this opportunity to share a little about myself to give you a better idea of my passions, interests, and work ethic. I am currently finishing the last course of my undergraduate career at the University of Miami, and I plan to graduate with my degree in business economics next semester. I have been accepted to the University of Miami School of Law as I plan to pursue my juris doctorate over the next few years.Throughout my undergraduate and professional career, I have become extremely acquainted with business, namely accounting. I am currently working full-time as an accounting manager at a medical consulting distribution company. I am also quite strong in Mathematics and have expertise in Applied Mathematics (linear regressions), Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, and Analytical number theory (Pre-Calculus and Calculus). I also have a broad background in the natural sciences, including biology. There are a number of other courses that I have expertise in which I would love to share with you if given the opportunity.I have approximately 3 years of tutoring experience. I was apart of a mentorship program in high school in which I was tasked with assisting students who struggled with their curriculum. I have also tutored acquaintances throughout college over the years. I am impassioned in my belief that the institution of education serves a vital role not only in advancing society, but also in the ability to better one's future. That is the main reason that I have taken an appreciation for tutoring. I, myself, have greatly benefitted from getting tutored. And I feel obligated to pass on my knowledge if given the opportunity to do so.My tutoring style is one of structure and practice. While it will depend on the subject being taught, a general tutor session would consist of reviewing short practice problems assigned to students in a previous session to figure out where their weaknesses are and to address them. I would then move onto the next lesson, keeping pace with their school curriculum or whatever study schedule they are on for a standardized exam. I will provide supplementary materials such as practice problems and notes for students to refresh upon later on. I view tutoring as an extension of the classroom, so I plan to teach the material in a way that incorporates similar strategies to those taught in school. In order to ensure students are motivated in reaching their goals of academic success, I always encourage them for their progress. I will never fault or blame a student for their lack of understanding, but I would instead try to figure out where the source of confusion is coming from.Outside of tutoring, work, and school, I am usually taking my dog on walks or going to the beach. Though I like to keep myself busy with my academic and professional life, I still enjoy trying new things and going new places. It is my hope that you were able to get a good idea of who I am, my expertise, and my strategies for tutoring. Thank you for taking the time to read through my statement, and I look forward to working with you!

I am currently a senior in central MO studying Criminal Justice. For the past five years, I've worked with private clients to babysit and tutor in the subjects of Science, math classes up to Pre-Algebra, art, history, as well as reading and writing. My favorite out of these to tutor would be reading and writing, as that has always been my strong suit; however I love the to tutor the introductions to Science, as it never fails to make my heart full seeing kids learn to be curious of the world. I'm an avid nature lover outside of my studies, and will most often be found at the barn tending to my equestrian duties when I am out of class!
