As a current MBA student and a recent graduate of Millikin University, there is no mistaking the importance of education to me. Entering college, I did not know what I wanted to study for I loved learning about a wide variety of topics. This is part of the reason why I ended up with degrees in mathematics and philosophy, a minor in communication, and a soon to be Masters in business administration. While I have tutored students in many subjects throughout my high school and undergraduate years, I find that I am best in tutoring the disciplines of math and logic. At Millikin University I served as the head student tutor of math my senior year as well as the head of my university's freshmen academic success program my junior year. As a recent undergraduate student and a current MBA student, I pride myself in understanding the unique circumstances current learners are facing. This summer I'm interning at Life or Death, a music management and public relations company that specializes in building the careers of independent artists. Music is my passion, and I spend a lot of my free time attending shows and looking for new music.I have several years of experience tutoring students in math (pre-algebra, algebra I/II, pre-calculus, and calculus) and SAT prep. I also coached mock trial debate as part of the National Hispanic Institue Youth Leadership Conference, where I learned how important it is to express yourself and your ideas clearly. In my experience, a student can't learn if he or she doesn't see the connection between academics and pursuing one's dreams. For example, Algebra may seem useless in daily life, but a solid foundation in math allows me to understand basic principles of business that are essential for working with others. Through being friendly and accessible, I work to make students feel engaged with the material rather than just memorizing facts.
