I've worked with students teaching and tutoring in multiple capacities in the past and enjoy it immensely. I have tutored elementary school students with ADD in English and Math, high school students in Pre-Calculus, and college students on the brink of failure in Anatomy, Histology, Physiology, Biology, Calculus and many other subjects. While in medical school, I have tutored other students on the higher level subjects of medical school including Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, and Biostatistics.I like to let the student guide my teaching style. In my experience, each student needs individualized tutoring. Personally, I am a visual learner, but I know that not everyone learns that way, so I accommodate to each student's needs. My first student with ADD showed me the range of needs each student can have. Other students have different needs, and I like to push my students to their full potential.Communication is key to success in the tutor-student relationship, and I work hard to make sure that we both understand the commitment and the goals that we are working towards. Each session should have a goal that we go over in the beginning of the session and agree on and if time permits, at the end, go over that goal and see what we want to review for next session.While I try to push my students, I also am very lighthearted and like to have fun during the actual session. The more enjoyable the session, the more information will be retained and understood. I was born and raised in the area so I am happy I get to come back home for a couple of years before I graduate from medical school. I am a recent Rutgers University graduate. I studied Psychology, and Pre-Medical Studies and graduated Suma Cum Laude. Additionally, I earned a 4.0 over my college career. I am currently applying to medical schools all over the country, and hope to enroll in medical school in the Fall.My favorite subjects to tutor are also my favorite subjects to learn. I first discovered how much tutoring can help a student when I started struggling in organic chemistry during my sophomore year of college. No matter what method I used, I could not bring my grade up in that class, so I started attending tutoring sessions. It wasn't until I received this direct help that I was able to bring my grade back up and do so well in the class! Seeing how much tutoring helped me made me realize that I want to give back to others the knowledge that helped me get to where I am today!Other than tutoring, I aim to become a Physician Assistant after I complete my undergrad at Loyola University with a major in Neuroscience. I am a student at Cornell University, expecting to receive my Bachelor of Science in December 2020. I am studying biological sciences with a minor in applied economics, and plan to enter a career in medicine. However, I have a love for learning in all subjects. I have extensive experience as a math tutor both in high school and college, and am eager to help more students in math and science. As a tutor, I hope to be able to make my students appreciate the value of what they are learning and enjoy solving problems independently.

I offer focused tutoring to prepare for standardized or in-class exams.I received my MD from the University of Maryland in 2011. Toward the end of medical school I became involved in helping premedical students prepare for the MCAT exam (I scored 98th percentile on this exam in 2007 and have since obtained higher scores on diagnostics). After medical school I completed my internship at Northwestern University and then left the clinical setting to join an MCAT content development company I founded in 2011. Over the past year, I have coached several students on MCAT preparation. I find these relationships valuable because they help me learn students learn, which helps me to write higher-yield MCAT-style questions.The MCAT contains General Chemistry/ Physics, Verbal Reasoning, and Biology/ Organic Chemistry/ Physiology/ Genetics/ Molecular Biology/ Biochemistry sections, and I feel comfortable tutoring in all these areas.The approach I will help you to implement has 3 parts: (1) Where am I now? (2) Where to I want to go? (3) How am I going to get there? To answer the first question, we'll need your most recent diagnostic test scores and a full summary of your classes/ coursework so far. The second question will be determined by you. The third question I will help you to figure out based on the time you have available to prepare. If necessary, we'll choose additional diagnostics to find your weaknesses. After learning my mistakes and figuring out studying strategies that best worked for me, I was better able to learn efficiently in college and also consult outside sources as well as my professors both of which contributed to my learning even further. The steps I took in this way made me a better person and an overall proactive student. I want to help become a part of the process of helping students not just learn their subjects better, but also learn how to study better by focusing on strategies that help better optimize learning for any particular topic.I am particular helpful with MCAT Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems preparation, as well as other college subjects like Organic and General Chemistry.
