As a long-time student, I often struggled with academics. More specifically, courses related to the sciences did not come easy to me. I never felt prepared no matter how hard I tried because there was always too much information and never enough time. Although it was challenging, shifting from trying to learn everything to finding the "right" information to know helped me academically. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Rutgers University. Since graduating, I decided to pursue a career in pharmaceutical sciences and am currently a pharmacy student at the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy. Many of my colleagues often recommended that I look into tutoring during my academic journey because of the simplistic way I can break down complex material. I know how difficult academia can be, and I hope to use this platform as an opportunity to help students in challenging times by decreasing any discouragement they may be facing in school and staying passionate about learning.

Since high school, Ive had a great passion for science, particularly in biology and chemistry. As a senior, I interned at the National Cancer Institute in Frederick, MD. I enjoyed learning the techniques and developed problem solving skills. This led me to pursuing my BS in Biological Sciences at University of Maryland, Baltimore County. While there, my professors trained us how to process problems and come to answers using critical thinking skills. We were taught to not simply memorize answers, but to understand them. This way of analyzing and learning science is what drives my approach to teaching. I try and share my passion with other students and guide them through more efficient ways of learning. I hope that by helping them analyze problems and understand solutions, they too will develop a passion for the topics. In addition to helping students master their material, I also prioritize general encouragement. Its important to me to build a relationship with the student and know where their interests lay. I want to be able to talk to them about their goals and visions for their future, and be able to share with them what my experiences have taught me. Education is so important, and I believe that by constant positive words of encouragement, students will sustain the desire to move forward with their schooling and earn their degrees with pride.

I can help with variety of scientific courses and give you the motivation and study skills to do well in your classes, as well as solid basics and a thorough understanding of the underlying concepts.I have several years of experience with tutoring a variety of Chemistry courses. I have also done multiple exam reviews, as well as prepared and presented workshops on specific subject areas in organic chemistry. I also received a top tutor award based on student ratings and working habits. Outside of that I have helped students in Genetics, General Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics and a list of other classes.I like to engage students in the learning process and give them multiple perspectives on a given topic. I often ask tricky questions to test what confuses the student or what details they tend to overlook. I also like to use colorful pens, and that is always a plus!

I am a graduate of Georgia College and State University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. Since graduation, I have continued my education as a teaching assistant at the University of Tennessee, teaching and tutoring general chemistry as well as organic chemistry. While chemistry has been my focus, I also enjoy exploring and tutoring physics and math as they are related fields of study. My desire to teach stems from my past mentors. Their impact on my life inspires me to do the same. As an educator, I feel it is important to make knowledge relatable with the end goal being a way of thinking and processing information that a student can take with them rather than solely knowing facts. Outside of academics, I enjoy music, board games, and outlets to stretch my brain.
