I graduated from Manchester University in 2012 with a degree in Spanish and Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). I have taught various levels of language learners all over the world: elementary students in Spain, young adults in Taiwan, and adult ESL classes in the United States.I am also still a language student as I am teaching myself medically-based Spanish vocabulary.I understand learning a new language is difficult and requires a different style of instruction, which is why I utilize a lot of interactive activities, conversationally-based classes, and a lot of positive reinforcement.Outside of teaching, I enjoy traveling, science fiction movies and books, yoga, and spending time with my Philadelphia friends and family.

I have a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from New York University, a Master of Arts in Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Chicago, and a Master of Arts in Teaching (Elementary Education) from National-Louis University. I taught Arabic in Chicago Public Schools for several years, and I also have teaching and tutoring experience with students from grades 3 through 12 in a wide variety of subjects.As an educator, my strengths include connecting with students and figuring out what helps them to become interested in what they are learning. Every student is unique, and the approach that I take in tutoring is to always look for innovative and creative ways to make the learning experience more targeted to their particular needs.

My formal teaching experience includes teaching in public middle and elementary schools for 13 years, as a coordinator of special education services for young adults for 1 year, teaching English to non-native speakers of all ages for 1 year combined, and as a private reading tutor for 4 years. My travels have taken me to Ecuador, Panama, and Spain, where I have practiced my Spanish. I also love to read books of all kinds and write in my free time. Hola!Learning Spanish has been one of the most rewarding endeavors I have ever undertaken. Now, I want to share it with you!I started learning when I was 19 when I moved to Guatemala for two years. Afterward it was my hobby. Soon it grew into my career. I have 12 years now working as a Spanish linguist or in a position that requires Spanish.The effort you put into learning Spanish will be paid back to you and more. Most of the places where it is spoken are warm and sunny. The cultures and peoples of these places mirror its weather, i.e., are warm and inviting. Watching a stranger's eyes light up as you attempt to speak their language is motivation enough. Soon enough they are you new lifelong friends and are feeding as much as they can.
