After graduating with my B.A. in Political Science from the University of Maine, I worked in an urban school in the Roxbury neighborhood of Boston to help students achieve higher marks in English/Language Arts and Math. I then went on to begin my tutoring career while I study to obtain my master's degree in teaching.I primarily tutor middle school, high school, and AP US History, middle and high school Civics and Government, middle and high school English/ELA, and middle school Algebra.

I am a Bio-medical student with a mathematics minor in college currently that is open-minded and enjoys helping others achieve their own goals as well. I am a graduate of Lindenwood University in Saint Charles. I obtained a Masters of Public Administration in 2013 and a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice in 2011. Since graduation, I have done various work with at risk youth and education. This summer I traveled to the Czech Republic for an international YMCA youth festival, where I was able to learn what other countries are doing regarding education. I have an extreme passion for education and how it correlates to crime, and am pursuing the application process of a doctoral degree in this field. I have experience working with students first-eighth grade in various subjects. I am most passionate about English, Essay writing, and Grammar skills. Tutoring is about finding that spark for students. I try to work with the student to find a way to relate to whatever subject they are struggling with. This means being open and flexible in my styles. When a student sees the light at the end of the tunnel, it is such a rewarding experience. I have found once they can get past their struggles, they become passionate about taking on the next obstacle. This is my goal with each and every student I work with.I am truly passionate about education, and believe today's youth are going to shape our futures. When I have free time you can often find me curled up with a good book (there is no such thing as reading too much), baking, cooking, or out exploring a nature trail.

I have taught Chess to kids both privately and at a summer camp and love working with people. I feel the most important part of tutoring is getting the student as involved and excited as possible.Outside of tutoring I love sports, music, movies, writing and just laughing - a lot. As an undergraduate studying English at Brigham Young University, I wanted to help other students learn to write well and succeed in their college writing experiences. So I worked as a writing consultant at BYU's Research & Writing Center, helping students across campus to brainstorm, organize, craft, and revise their writing. During my time at the RWC, I completed over 700 tutoring sessions, working with writers and assignments from more than 150 courses on our campus. I enjoyed learning how to coach others in writing so much that I went on to complete a master's degree, emphasizing in rhetoric and composition and writing my thesis on experiential education in writing classrooms. I also taught two years of first-year writing and one year of advanced persuasive writing. When it comes to tutoring, writing of any kind is my jamapplication materials, personal statements, resumes, essays, research papers, literature reviews, etc. I love working one on one with writers to help them achieve their goals and to equip them with principles and tools so that after they leave a tutoring session with me, they feel more confident in facing their future writing assignments. When I hang up my teaching/tutoring cap for the day, I trade it most often for an apronI'm an aspiring cook, baker, and especially saucier, always on the hunt for ways to turn whole foods into delectable meals and treats.

During my time spent serving as a volunteer tutor during both my high school and undergraduate years, I was able to help many students increase their knowledge of History, English Literature, and Grammar. Additionally, I was also able to help others gain the skill sets necessary for accomplished essay writing and SAT Verbal Test Preparation. My goal is to always guide the student towards a deeper comprehension of the subject matter, with development of the corresponding techniques and sense of confidence necessary for success.

I have spent time working with elementary-age students on reading and math as well as college-age students on chemistry and biology. My favorite subject to teach is Biology as this is my own area of expertise being a current medical student. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, hiking and yoga.
