Education is my life! If I am not teaching then I am usually immersed in learning a new topic, skill, or hobby. Although I have worked in just about every area of education from summer camps to coaching, I formally began my journey by attaining my Bachelors Degree in Secondary English Education (Gr. 6-12). I discovered how much I loved working with younger students and went on to get my Masters Degree in Elementary Education (K-6 all subjects) from the University of Central FL.Since then I have worked as a 3rd and 5th grade classroom teacher as well as a specialist intervention teacher for reading and math for K-8. I am passionate about helping students develop a love of learning as well as a positive outlook on their own education.I also enjoy outdoor activities and yoga in my (very limited) free time. Cooking and spending time with family is also enjoyable for me. I look forward to working with students to help them achieve their academic goals and help them on their path to attaining their highest potential.

My MA in English and Education provided a thorough background in all aspects of teaching and learning literature, composition, and developmental writing. My understanding of English as a discipline draws on a rich blend of composition, reading and literary theorists, critical educators, and feminists. I enact an approach to teaching and learning that prioritizes writing as both a learning strategy and a habit of mind essential in every academic area, and conceptualizes writing and literature as fundamental components of personal growth and social change. I am committed to remaining current in educational technologies, implementation strategies, and content materials. My background in education has afforded me practical ways to engage students in developing and creating their own content knowledge and skills via multimodal assignments that will benefit your child. My composition instruction emphasizes analytical and critical thinking and writing, both in developmental/remedial writing and freshman composition. I encourage my students to consider writing not merely a prosaic form of expression, nor an unattainable mode of artistry, but a medium with the potential for meaningful and intellectual interactions between writers and readers and the world. My focus on the writing process and the importance of pre-writing, organizing, drafting, and especially revision, helps students see writing as something they can control. I believe in demystifying writing; the transformation of writing from intimidating to manageable in a student’s mind triggers tremendous confidence, power, and voice. Ultimately, I want to help students become stronger, self-assured writers able to cope with the challenges of any kind of analytical and critical writing they are required to do.

For my entire life I've had a passion for learning, for adventure, for food, to run. I've free-climed in Germany, played baseball in Korea, hitchhiked in Argentina, and drove across gelid Mongolia through winter. My disparate life is united by an insatiable curiosity, a desire which proves invaluable in both teaching and learning. This curiosity has taken me around the intellectual, and physical, world. I started out studying physics at seventeen, after two years fell in love with literature, and switched majors, picking up another along the way--political science--and earned my first two degrees. After university, I wanted to discover a new culture, and profession, and settled on teaching in China. For three years, I taught English and explored China, from busy Wuhan to desolate Xinjiang. Now I find myself back in the States, teaching again and tackling a new adventure: law.I would love the opportunity to work with you, whether it be LSAT prep, Shakespeare, physics, or an essay on Nabokov. Experience--and the knowledge it brings--is invaluable, and it would be great to share some of my passion and knowledge with you.

Don't worry. You can do this! I'm just here to help.I'm an MSc Systems Engineer from Kennesaw State University. My BSc in English is from the United States Naval Academy, where I studied nuclear power and taught remedial classes to adult peers. My work history is mostly offshore pipelining in the Gulf of Mexico, including a lot of immersive international travel. That means I've been privileged to apply math and engineering education to real problems for real people. Technical writing for clients and regulators has kept my formal English concise, clear, and correct. My joy is teaching math and English you'll actually use - not just what's on the next test. Learning should be about living!

After earning my MFA in Dance (2019) from Sarah Lawrence College, I have been privileged to teach at Elon University (2020) and the University of North Carolina, Greensboro (2019) where I am fortunate to integrate physical practice and research in the classroom. I consider myself a lifelong learner, equally as passionate about the learning process as the subject matter. The most fulfilling part about tutoring students one-on-one is helping them discover joy in the process. I tutor a range of subjects, but I particularly enjoy helping students understand tricky French grammar concepts. When I'm not tutoring, I can be found playing fetch with my dog, Riggs.

I'm an Educational Studies graduate student who gets excited about helping other people learn. Between private tutoring and working at the academic writing center on my college campus, I have 2 years of tutoring experience, with 1 year of that being ADHD-specific.While working at my college's Academic Writing Center, I helped students improve their writing for class assignments, scholarship and grant applications, and the occasional cover letter and resume. My approach to writing tutoring is not about editing students' grammar; instead, I help students identify their communication goals and then teach techniques for effectively meeting those goals. In broader tutoring work, I help students develop their study skills in a way that suits their unique learning style, personality, and accommodation needs. There is no one right way to learn, so figuring out what works for you is often a process of throwing spaghetti at the wall and seeing what sticks. As a student with ADHD myself, I have honed my 'spaghetti throwing' process over my academic career to be systematic and reflexive. When trying a new study technique, I help students identify what about it specifically works well and where friction occurs. I then use this feedback to inform what I suggest trying next. Lather, rinse, repeat until eventually students have a toolkit full of study techniques that they can wield confidently for any assignment, paper, or test that comes their way.I would love to work with any student who wants to build their study toolkit to work with their unique learning style and educational goals.

I an actuarial analyst, author of math workbook, Mathematician, Statistician, and University of Central Florida alumni. I have 17 years of experience tutoring 6th graders to college students. I strive to make sure my students not only get the grade, but truly understand the material. Having my students teach me the topic afterwards shows me that they are ready to move on. Math is everywhere in the world and I like to incorporate it into my lessons. I believe my experience, my love for math, and my genuine want to help is what makes me a great tutor. I strive to make sure the student truly understands the material, not accepting "kind of" as "yes, I understand". I tend to ask what the students what their hobbies are so that I may relate the problem to their own lives. I found that this technique is a real winner.

I am a public school reading teacher in the elementary grades. I have a passion for educating young people and guiding them to academic success, either in or outside of the classroom. I have experience as a classroom teacher and a private tutor, in subjects that range from Reading and Writing to History and French. In my opinion, the path to obtaining a good education is formed by hard work, diligence, persistence, and an open mind. I work on a daily basis to instill these qualities in my students and tutees. I also believe that forming meaningful relationships with my students creates an environment in which learning is the goal. In my spare time, I enjoy running, golf, reading, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
