Since then, I have edited a literary journal, managed a research center, and published several peer-reviewed articles on American autobiography, fiction, and poetry. I live with my wife and three daughters in Durham, North Carolina.

I have an MBA from Rice University and both real-world business experience and teaching experience. Most recently, I taught a first-year college course in Microeconomics for nine years, in addition to other classes in the university's international trade program.
