Throughout my many years in school, my friends, acquaintances, and classmates have turned to me for help understanding material being taught in classes we have taken together. I have helped teach people in many school subjects, but I am particularly experienced in math tutoring. I see math as a puzzle that can be easily solved if one becomes familiar with all the rules; furthermore, these rules are interconnected, so understanding one leads to understanding more. As a tutor, I build links between mathematical concepts rather than starting from scratch every time. My success as a tutor is also in part due to my patience with anyone struggling to understand a concept; I am willing to repeat something I have said or done many times. Additionally, if I am teaching someone a skill, I make sure to let them try it, and ensure them that getting it wrong a few times is alright. It's impossible to learn without making mistakes, and even tougher to learn without someone guiding the way.I hope to make middle school and high school math as understandable for other students as it has been for me.

Hi scholars! I am recent alumna from the University of Miami where I studied Microbiology and Immunology with minors in Chemistry and Psychology. I have a huge passion for education and mentorship. So much so, I found myself relocating to a new city to serve as an Americorps member with City Year. My tutoring experience began as simple as tutoring my classmates in high school and college to help them be success to more specifically with City Year where I am working with 9th 12th in Algebra I and Pre-Calc. My strongest courses to tutor are Math and Science. I am feel as though they are so applicable to life. Everyday you have to problem solve and know your surroundings and both subjects give you tools to in a unique way to apply to everyday life. My philosophy to tutoring is mistakes are part of the process. Its okay to mess up I am here to help point out those errors and help you work through them in a safe, comfortable environment. Willkommen! My approach to language tutoring utilizes an individual's intuitive and natural language learning process, engaging students by using what they care about. I first developed this technique while completing my bachelors degree at Fourah Bay College in Sierra Leone. On campus I became an informal German tutor, discovering a passion for language tutoring, and developing this natural, intuitive and effective method of language learning. During this period I gained fluency in another language myself using this approach. I began formal tutoring in two of the three languages I am fluent in as well as mathematics and economics during my undergraduate studies. I am now looking forward to gaining admission into a graduate program for Supply Chain Management, Procurement and Contract negotiations. Outside of academia I am a very sociable person, happy to make new friends. My hobbies are soccer, pool/billiards, chess, movies, music, acting, dancing and singing. Plus I love the look on kids' faces when they finally get it!To some people math looks like a whole different language, but I understand it enough to turn it into simple english.
