Throughout my many years in school, my friends, acquaintances, and classmates have turned to me for help understanding material being taught in classes we have taken together. I have helped teach people in many school subjects, but I am particularly experienced in math tutoring. I see math as a puzzle that can be easily solved if one becomes familiar with all the rules; furthermore, these rules are interconnected, so understanding one leads to understanding more. As a tutor, I build links between mathematical concepts rather than starting from scratch every time. My success as a tutor is also in part due to my patience with anyone struggling to understand a concept; I am willing to repeat something I have said or done many times. Additionally, if I am teaching someone a skill, I make sure to let them try it, and ensure them that getting it wrong a few times is alright. It's impossible to learn without making mistakes, and even tougher to learn without someone guiding the way.I hope to make middle school and high school math as understandable for other students as it has been for me.

Hi scholars! I am recent alumna from the University of Miami where I studied Microbiology and Immunology with minors in Chemistry and Psychology. I have a huge passion for education and mentorship. So much so, I found myself relocating to a new city to serve as an Americorps member with City Year. My tutoring experience began as simple as tutoring my classmates in high school and college to help them be success to more specifically with City Year where I am working with 9th 12th in Algebra I and Pre-Calc. My strongest courses to tutor are Math and Science. I am feel as though they are so applicable to life. Everyday you have to problem solve and know your surroundings and both subjects give you tools to in a unique way to apply to everyday life. My philosophy to tutoring is mistakes are part of the process. Its okay to mess up I am here to help point out those errors and help you work through them in a safe, comfortable environment. On another note, I am a huge athlete, I ran track in college and played a plethora of sports throughout my life. My newest venture is Yoga! I look forward to meeting you and hope to be a stepping stone to your achievements!

I am a current undergraduate (Junior) at the University of Pennsylvania. I am a B.A. candidate in Political Science with a concentration in International Relations. I currently work for my university as a critical writing tutor in the UPenn Center for Programs in Contemporary Writing - this will be my third year tutoring. I love working with my peers to help them improve research papers and personal essays! I have also worked extensively in the nonprofit sector, particularly with youth aged 11-25. I currently work for an international peace education organization, planning and coordinating programming related to diversity, conflict and resolution, sustainable development, and human rights. I tutor in writing (creative writing, research writing, college admissions essays), Standardized Test preparation (Critical Reading and Writing), grammar and mechanics, vocabulary, and social studies (human geography, political science). I am very passionate about writing and its application across a wide variety of fields! The best thing about tutoring is the way in which a tutor and tutee can learn from each other during a session - open dialogue can help make the experience very impactful! In my free time, I love writing, running, and playing music. My absolute favorite thing to do is travel - I have been to as many countries as my current age, and I hope to keep up with that pattern for the rest of my life!

Conversational German Tutor • +5 Subjects

Willkommen! My approach to language tutoring utilizes an individual's intuitive and natural language learning process, engaging students by using what they care about. I first developed this technique while completing my bachelors degree at Fourah Bay College in Sierra Leone. On campus I became an informal German tutor, discovering a passion for language tutoring, and developing this natural, intuitive and effective method of language learning. During this period I gained fluency in another language myself using this approach. I began formal tutoring in two of the three languages I am fluent in as well as mathematics and economics during my undergraduate studies. I am now looking forward to gaining admission into a graduate program for Supply Chain Management, Procurement and Contract negotiations. Outside of academia I am a very sociable person, happy to make new friends. My hobbies are soccer, pool/billiards, chess, movies, music, acting, dancing and singing. As a native speaker I will help my students to utilize the aforementioned techniques to learn German effectively and efficiently. I tutor all levels of German, and will work with students to meet their specific language needs. Please feel free to contact me, so that we can move your language abilities forward. Machs Gut!

Aderinsola

Hi! I'm Aderinsola, (Sola for short) and I graduated with my Bachelors in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University and my Masters in Biophysics/Physiology from Stony Brook University. While I was in college, I realized that the best way to comprehend what is taught isn't always in a classroom, but through your peers so I'm ready to help you in any way I can by simplifying everything into everyday language.I most recently worked with an enrichment program teaching science and math to elementary, middle, and high school aged children, and I figured that I loved it so much that I should expand past the four walls of my school. Plus I love the look on kids' faces when they finally get it!To some people math looks like a whole different language, but I understand it enough to turn it into simple english. I promise it's not as hard as they might make it in the classroom and I'm here to strengthen your skills so that you can see that too!I also LOVE science, even went back and got a second degree in it, so I'm pretty well rounded when it comes to biology, biochemistry, and physiology. Again, for some these subjects seem like a different, intangible world, but I promise that I can make it real, tangible and understandable.I want to help students as much as possible, and I plan on doing so through some innovative and exciting learning. I'm easy to reach and I'll always provide fast responses. Please feel free to contact me!
