I have experience tutoring for over 8 years now. I started in high school tutoring my peers in science and mathematics. I continued tutoring in college through the Educational Opportunity Program. This allowed me to focus tutoring students with high needs. I shifted gears near the end of my college career and began tutoring kids in early education. I became a mentor for a middle school student and became his academic aid. I am currently tutoring high needs students from 2nd grade to 4th grade at a Charter School in Boston.Through my experience tutoring at various grade levels, I have learned how to cater tutorials to the needs of each individual student. My priority is to find the root cause why a student is struggling and attack that approach. I work with my students to help them learn to teach themselves. Their goal is to be high-achieving independent learners and I will try my best to help them along that journey.

I have been involved in scientific research for many years, and authored multiple publications. In addition to my technical work, I have worked as a research mentor for local high school students, taught an elective course on reading and analyzing scientific papers, and was employed by the Oberlin Dean of Students as a mentor for incoming freshman. As a result, I have a deep passion for explaining confusing and complicated concepts, and working to teach to the individual student’s needs and interests.In addition to my scientific work, I have been heavily involved in writing for many years. In high school, I was the News Editor and Managing Editor of the school newspaper. During college, I wrote for multiple publications, and was a copy editor at the Oberlin Review, as well as a co-founder and Editor-in-Chief of Oberlin’s popular science magazine. As a result, I have many years under my belt serving as a grammar and content editor -- which involves not only correcting others’ work, but working over long periods of time with writers to begin, create, and shape pieces of which they can be proud.

Hi! I am a third year student at Georgia Institute of Technology studying Biomedical Engineering with a minor in Computer Science. I love teaching STEM classes. I have experience teaching elementary, middle, high school, and college students. I love getting to know my students, learning their learning style, and making the course content fun and engaging.

I desire to serve as a Tutor because I had a great and unique experience taking a variety of courses at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Because of that experience, I have had to think of different ways to study and remain motivated over 7 years. I would love to pass that knowledge on to incoming students taking the courses related to health sciences. I'm currently pursuing a career in advertising/consulting, and in my spare time I eat mini tacos and watch Louis CK stand-up comedy.

I have also assisted high school students in their writing so they are better prepared when they enter college. I believe education can be empowering and can elevate individuals as high as they want to go. I spent 15 years as an elementary school teacher, 6 years as an adult education teacher, and for the past year and a half I have taught pre-service teachers at the collegiate level. I am an experienced educator who uses this experience coupled with research to provide students with the best options needed to help improve their status as a student. I am currently working on my doctorate in curriculum and instruction, continuing to find the best ways to better the learning experience for students.

Before becoming a public elementary school teacher, my experience included child/day care centers, Pre-Schools, after-school programs, private tutoring, substitute teaching, and owning and operating my own licensed child care center for several years. Educating children is my passion and all I have ever done!

I am a biochemist and I love science. As a graduate student I spent many hours mentoring and teaching Biology and Biochemistry to incoming freshmen. It was a rewarding experience and the beginning of my desire for teaching and helping others. I continued to fulfill my urge to teach in a professional environment by developing and delivering training to Manufacturing Scientists, Technical Support Staff, Sales Team, and Field Scientists within Life Science industry.My experience grew more into teaching professional skills at work and teaching high school science and math skills in the local community. I believe using real world application and examples greatly helps younger minds to absorb and retain more of what they learn. My academic and industry experiences will allow me to achieve just that. I am looking to continue teaching science and math to the younger generation in the community with the hope of helping them solidify an interest and have a competitive edge.
