Hello! I am a UNLV student studying nursing. I have taken all my pre-requisites and would love to tutor someone that needs help with a subject!

My name is Austin Maul, and I am the Outstanding Graduating Economics major of Arizona State University! I am a CRLA certified tutor and have been happily helping my peers achieve their academic goals since my second semester my freshman year of college when I became a TA (the only undergraduate TA in the Department of Economics, might I add) for ASU's Principles of micro- and macroeconomics courses. My approach to economics is far from the typical approach of professors to assign book reading and give boring lectures. Instead, I like to engage with my students in relevant and intriguing conversations that facilitate learning in a productive and FUN fashion! Economics is an extremely interesting and fun subject if taught correctly, and it is ESSENTIAL not only to your continued studies in academia, but also in the REAL WORLD! This is why I strive to provide the most entertaining, and in turn, the most productive learning experience possible. My methods have been proven over three years of being a student tutor, and I hope that I can continue this fulfilling job as much as possible beyond receiving my degree! I received a 4.0 GPA (or higher if you count A+'s) in college in the prestigious W.P. Carey School of Business, so I am very well versed in other business subjects in addition to Economics. I am also going to be attending law school starting in the Fall of 2017 and thus am a prolific writer, speaker, and logical thinker. I also have experience helping others in these areas, though not on the scale of my experience with economics and other business subjects. I am always happy to help in whatever way I can and cater to my students' specific needs.Beyond being a tutor, I personally believe I am one of the most interesting 22 year olds in the world. I am a huge Boston sports fan, and have seen in person the Red Sox win the World Series in 2013, the Bruins lose the Stanley Cup Final in 2013, and the Patriots win Super Bowl XLIX in 2015. In fact, I am probably the most famous person you know! I was a palm tree for Katy Perry in the Super bowl XLIX halftime show, and am personal friends with the famous "Left Shark!" I played tuba in the marching band from middle school and through college, am a student pilot (yes, for airplanes), and have been to nearly all 50 states, Canada, Mexico, and CHINA!I am a thrill and experience seeker who is committed to helping others also live their lives to the fullest. Tutoring best allows me to utilize my talents and abilities to teach this goal, which is why I love it so much. I hope to get to help as many students as possible succeed as a Varsity Tutor!

I have always enjoyed helping others unlock their understanding of the world around them in ways that are constructive and fun. Learning anything is about associating new information with the construct that is already understood. My task is to make the transition as efficient as possible.

Elementary school teacher with 5+ years of experience managing classrooms of 20- 30 students. With experience in using positive reinforcement teaching techniques to encourage student behavior and development. Also, I worked in early childhood special education. I speak English and Spanish, which has helped me support English Language Learners and understand their culture.

As a recently retired educator of the Clark County School District and teacher overseas, I still have a passion for teaching and helping the next generation of students achieve and strive to reach their own personal limits. I am 22 years old and I recently graduated from the University of Vermont (UVM) in May of 2018 with a BA in English.At UVM, I worked for two years as a Writing Center Tutor. I have taken two semesters of a class dedicated to teaching me how to most effectively tutor. I learned how to work with students with dyslexia, ADHD, Aspergers syndrome, deaf or hard of hearing students, and students with a variety of abilities with writing. Throughout my time at UVM, I tutored over 200 hours both in one on one and group sessions.I also worked alongside professors in the English department as a Writing in the Disciplines Mentor. In this position, I worked with a professor to integrate writing workshops into the classroom. I learned a lot about building curriculum, working at the individual and classroom level, and how to keep students engaged. I feel comfortable and confident with my ability to integrate resources to supplement student learning.My teaching philosophy is that every student is able to succeed in academics. This can only happen if the teaching or tutoring instruction is tailored to the individual needs of the student. I work on getting to know my students personally. I try to understand their strengths and weaknesses as a student. I then work to tailor my tutoring to their needs. For example, If a student struggles with attention, we would do some brain/body focusing exercises before our sessions. If a student is uncomfortable with reading out loud in class, we will work on building their confidence incrementally!I am currently studying to take the Teacher Certification Exam (PRAXIS) so that I can apply to the Alternative Routes to Licensing Program through Clark County School District. My passion is fostering an intrinsic excitement for learning in each student. I believe every child can succeed with a bit of patience, attention, and focus!I look forward to talking more about your student's needs. Thank you!

Are you looking to get good grades fast? School can get hard sometimes, and we both know what it takes to get an A, but I believe working smarter is better than working harder! Spending hours doing homework in hopes of acing your tests is definitely not fun. I'm in college so I know how it is, but all throughout high school I learned the key to my high GPA was not to be drowned with work I wasn't excited about--it's all about learning the right way. As a tutor I hope to be the tutor I once wish I had early on, to save you time, and make sure you enjoy a subject more because of how easy it gets to you.
