Currently, I'm working towards a Bachelor's degree in Finance at Portland Community College. I have been a formal and informal tutor over the last eight years. I am currently a post-baccalaureate scholar at Johns Hopkins University and plan to pursue a PhD in Neuroscience or Psychology at Johns Hopkins in 2018. I have many years of experience working as a tutor and a mentor; in high school, I tutored Latin and Physics for 3 years and as an undergraduate I mentored underclassmen in Psychology/Statistics coursework. I love tutoring Psychology and Statistics as those are two subjects I am most passionate about and are subjects I feel that I benefit the most from teaching. My teaching style is very laid-back and I strongly believe that a teacher should be just as willing to learn from the student as the student is from the teacher. I have the utmost amount of respect for my students and I hope that reflects in my reactions with them. I graduated from the University of Richmond majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing Analytics and a minor in Mathematics. I have worked with kids of all ages, ranging from elementary school to college students through various subjects. I have also worked extensively with special needs children, doing everything from teaching special education to one-on-one in-home mentoring. Through my experiences, I have continued to carry my passion for working with children and have developed my skills in making successful and individualized learning fun. I obtained my Bachelor's degree in elementary education and psychology from Rider University and my Master's degree in Special Education from Kean University. I received 18 post-master's credits in Behavior Analysis from Rutger's University and 12 credits towards earning a certification in LDTC (Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant). I am passionate about teaching and watching my students progress towards their individualized goals. My tutoring style is working one on one or in small groups, just as I do in my self contained classroom. This allows me to individualize instruction to meet each students' learning style. After school, I have often tutored elementary school students in Language Arts, Math, History, and other subjects, such as functional social and behavior skills. Language Arts would probably be my favorite. I believe that education is the foundation to success in life.

I consider myself a life-long learner. I often joke that I could be a professional student if funding was not an issue. During my graduate studies I was also a teaching assistant. I taught classes and discussion groups and assisted students with understanding both theoretical and practical concepts related to criminology and sociology.During my professional career I have also trained and supervised many colleagues, interns and volunteers in the field of criminal justice and victim advocacy.I can tutor in many subjects but especially those related to criminology including criminal justice, criminal law, victimology, and sociology.

I received my B.S. in International Affairs with concentrations in History and Italian Language and Culture from Florida State University. I also acquired a TEFL 100 hour certificate (Teaching English as a Foreign Language). I have experience tutoring students from all around the world in English as a foreign language.The key strengths that I possess include the following: in-depth knowledge and understanding of the European region and its history, strong writing, editing, research and analysis skills, and a passion for European history, American politics, Italian language and culture, and ESL.
