I received my Bachelor of Education degree from Drake University where I majored in Educational Psychology. I also possess a Master of Business Administration degree. After spending a few decades in the manufacturing sector, I decided to come back to the field of education in order to contribute to posterity. I consider education imperative for future success, and my return to the field of education is a way of having a positive impact on tomorrow. Besides tutoring, I presently teach reading and writing at a major college. Additionally, my experience in the teaching field includes having taught middle school English in a Charter school. I also taught students in the Department of Juvenile Justice Services of a large municipality where I tutored students who had been arrested and had dropped out of high school. I taught and mentored these students, which culminated in them receiving a high school diploma from the state. One of my specialties is preparing students for critical tests. My concentration is in teaching English with an emphasis in writing and reading. My expertise includes teaching grammar including sentence structure, organization, and mechanics. I also concentrate on style, writing an essay, revising, and editing. My reading experience includes interpreting and analyzing informational text and reading literature. Moreover, I assess and teach student needs in comprehension, vocabulary, fluency prosody, and fluency accuracy. My hobbies include reading, jogging, kayaking, scuba diving, and playing the guitar.

Education has always been very important to me. Many subjects can be very difficult to learn and learning how to deal with the stress of that is something that I can understand. I believe in helping people not only in understanding the subject, but also learning study techniques, planning, organization and how to deal with stress. When you do not know a subject matter it becomes boring and you lose interest. When you know the subject matter it becomes interesting and fun. No one likes to watch Jeopardy when you do not know the answers. When you know the answers, you feel confident and are having fun.

A 1L student at Columbia Law School, I graduated with Bachelors of Arts in Economics and Honors Chemistry from Vanderbilt University in May 2021. I have over four years of experience in tutoring students in a variety of subjects and use a variety of techniques to adapt lessons to specific student needs.

I have always loved mathematics. Someday I will obtain my PhD in that subject. My school background is rough since I was born with a hearing disability. I was not the best academically, but I was involved in soccer. This hardship increased due to procrastination. Procrastination is a nasty habit that haunts everyone. That is more reason why I should tutor others. I have a deeper understanding why students struggle in their subjects. I know where the roadblocks are and how to overcome them. I no longer have trouble hearing ever since I undergone ear surgery and changed my life dramatically. I still feel like I am playing catch up, but that seems not to be the case in all areas. Everyone is playing catch up in at least one area of study.

You can expect enjoyable sessions that focus on passing the exams and understanding the core concepts. I am a licensed CPA with a Master's of Accounting degree from University of Miami. I currently work in public accounting in South Florida. I have worked for many firms and also played poker professionally, earning over $1,000,000 in tournaments.

I have dedicated myself to working in and studying education for the past 8 years, and love working with students! Math and Economics are my favorite subjects. I've taught Algebra, some Calculus, and AP Statistics, as well as many levels of Economics (8th grade, AP Micro & Macro, and Game Theory), to 8th-12th graders. All of which I tutor. I've also worked as a vice principal at a primary school. A BA in Economics from the University of Arizona and a Master of Public Policy from Georgetown prepared me well for all of those things.I believe strongly that a well-rounded, high-quality education for every student is the most effective means of ensuring equality of opportunity for all. To that end, I've recently started a data analytics firm focused on helping schools leverage the information at their disposal to more effectively serve their students. I look forward to helping students better understand math and econ, while I work to get that venture off the ground.When I'm not teaching or analyzing data, I enjoy rock climbing and cooking. I'm not a very good rock climber, but I really know how to roast a chicken!

My personal philosophy on teaching and learning is founded around my cumulative experiences as a student, instructor, mentor and researcher. Having been an active participant from both sides of the classroom, in university settings, I know that successful learning is synonymous with long term retention, which in-turn facilitates the ability to apply knowledge and think laterally when the opportune moment presents itself in the real-world. To truly learn is to discover knowledge through experience and lots of practice which invokes the confidence to overcome challenges while simultaneously lifting inhibitions in regard to tackling new problems. To facilitate such an experience within a classroom environment is especially possible in subjects like mathematics and the physical sciences, by facilitating a working knowledge of contemporary issues in the science through articulation of real-world examples and providing opportunity for hands-on problem solving through exercises. Scientists, leaders and instructors effectively teach when they simultaneously impart information and nurture an environment that offers students the opportunity to discover a new subject while maintaining a channel for continuous closed-loop feedback, to ensure that the pace of subject-matter delivery and the student-specific rate of retention are in step. My teaching style is a literal embodiment of the above statements.
