I cater to all different types of students. If the way I am teaching the concepts does not work for you, let me know and I will try my very best to teach students in the way they feel comfortable. Also, I am a student myself, so I know and understand the struggles of being a student. Do not worry though! I have tutored countless students ranging from grades 1-12. I have tutored middle school students for the past three years and recently began tutoring a few high school students for the SAT exam. I have received multiple mathematics awards throughout my high school years, so I am confident that I will be able to teach your student the tips and tricks around different types of math problems. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me!

I graduated from UC San Diego with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physiology and Neuroscience and minors in Psychology and Hebrew Language and Literature. Throughout my time in college, I continued to work on study methods to help me maintain a high level of understanding of topics while enjoying the process of learning as well. Being able to figure out what study methods worked best for me (regardless of the subject I was studying) is the reason that I believe I was successful in my undergraduate studies and is crucial in any kind of learning in my opinion.I strongly feel that focusing on what a person enjoys and using their strengths toward their advantage is the only way to help someone truly learn well and recall information correctly. This is the type of strategy that I would like to employ when I tutor your child. Because everyone learns differently, I will need to speak to the parents before the first tutoring session. The first thing I'd like to do is get to know your child by speaking to you. I would like to understand what your child enjoys to do (hobbies, sports, etc.) and what you feel is the best way your child learns. After I have a better understanding of who your child is, I will attempt to incorporate the things that your child enjoys to make the tutoring session much more fun and exciting. Whether it's through visuals, references or mnemonics, I will try to discover what works best and will continue using this method to teach your child the subjects that your child struggles with. My hope is that your child will continue to use and develop these methods of learning that they enjoy on their own as well so that one day they too can apply it to any future subject that they might struggle with.In my spare time, I enjoy sports (especially basketball), Krav Maga, the beach, traveling and meeting new people. I look forward to speaking to you and helping your child succeed in school and to help create a better path for your child to learn.

I have had over seven years experience working as a tutor. I have mentored students from Kindergarten to 10th graders, as well. I love helping students unlock their full potential in order to help them grow as leaders. I have worked with high school students through Americorps, as well as elementary students at a charter school. In addition, I was a program director for the Boys and Girls Club. It is important to communicate with students to help them figure out what their strengths are and in that process, find out how to relate school to things they enjoy. This will allow the students to broaden their skill set.

I come from a long line of teachers. My father, sister, grandfather, aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces all chose teaching as their life's work.Even at a very early age it was becoming apparent that teaching would become a large part of my future. I remember sitting in on one of my father's classes. I was so proud of my dad as I watched him interact with his students. It was obvious the class loved him as they hung onto every word from his mouth. I hoped and dreamed to be just like him one day.At 15 it became more clear that the teaching profession would become an integral part of my future. I was a gymnast and inevitably I would gravitate over to one of my teammates who was struggling with a new trick. I would spend my practice time teaching my teammate how to get that new trick and it occurred time and time again. I actually got as excited as my teammate was when they got that new skill. That excitement just continued to grow as I was offered a free masters degree program (plus compensation) at West Virginia University when I agreed to assistant coach their women's gymnastics team and teach classes. The team had never made it to regionals before I got there. By my second year not only did the team make it to regionals but WON regionals then went on to Nationals and ended up being the third best team in the U.S.A.There were several more success stories during my two decades of teaching/coaching and counseling. I opened my own private gyms and developed numerous national and international level athletes and champions.Teaching continues to make me happy and proud of what I've accomplished and the 100's of student's lives that I've touched.Looking back, sitting in my dad's class as a 12 year old helped me make one of the most important and fulfilling decisions of my life. becoming a teacher.

I began my career as an educator three years ago in Champaign Illinois. I was an assistant to an amazing kindergarten teacher, and together we made the school year one to remember. I saw growth in a way I had never seen it before, and as a result a fiery passion for teaching was birthed inside me.I'm the type of individual who thrives on grit. So in my world of teaching, there is no such thing as "giving up" we will try and try and try again until we improve; and then continue to move forward. My mission is to serve my students, and you will see that in my consistent, fun, and persistent style of tutoring. When I'm not working in education, I am writing, playing music with my band mates, and working at my church. I am also working on my master's in special education at Fontbonne University. One of my greatest desires is to be a positive influence to my peers and those who look up to me as a role model. Tutoring provides a greater reach in fulfilling that desire, therefore I am honored and blessed to work with any student who is requesting my services.

My passions are diverse and range from a love for theater to an affection for different cultures and languages and include a devotion to teaching and mental health services. I am a doctoral student currently doing an internship as a school psychologist. However, before going back to grad school, I was a teacher. I have 8+ years of experience teaching a variety of subjects (3rd & 4th grade, Pre-algebra, Algebra, Spanish, Theater Arts, ESL). I have experience tutoring elementary, middle school, and high school students both privately and for learning centers. As part of my passion for multicultural experiences, I spent 18 months overseas as an English teacher and interview consultant. Additionally, my current career as a doctoral intern in school psychology has afforded me opportunities to provide psychological services to students with learning, behavioral, and developmental disabilities in elementary, middle, and high schools, the university clinic, and an acute mental health facility. What makes me a great tutor is my background in the psychology of learning, my individualized teaching methods for students because they learn in different ways, and my ability to scaffold instruction so students learn strategies to develop skills on their own.

I am a graduate of Saint Joseph's University, class of 2012 majoring in Elementary and Special Education. I have a strong passion to educate young minds. I view my chosen profession as one with a responsibility to inspire students to take ownership for their own education by providing them with the proper tools to succeed. Recognizing that every child has different capacities for learning it is also my responsibility, as their educator, to make sure I know my students' individual needs and determine the most effective approach for presenting information to them.

I have been tutoring since I was in high school. I developed a love for teaching when I started to tutor. I've been teaching high school for the past 7 years and I've taught everything from Pre-Algebra to AP Calculus. There are many skills that make an outstanding teacher. First, I believe you have to have a love for people. When you have a love for people, it helps you to be more compassionate and concerned with their individual needs. Since students come from various backgrounds and environments, an outstanding teacher must be able to adapt to each students individual personalities and needs. I am a firm believer that students may not always remember what you teach them, but they will always remember how you made them feel.Secondly, an outstanding teacher is one who can take things that are difficult and make them simple to understand. That is extremely important when discussing mathematics because many students struggle with math and if we as educators make it simple to understand, they will be more likely to retain the information.Another attribute I believe is necessary to be an outstanding teacher, is to never stop learning yourself. We as educators have to continue to develop professionally and work on our "craft". Since our world is constantly evolving with technology and other things, we have to keep up with our development if we are to continue to shape the minds of the young people whom we teach. It is imperative that we continue to grow and set a good example in our hunger to get better if we want to impart that to our students.
