My first year I taught Algebra I at Belmont High School in Dayton, OH and I taught General Science for two years at South Dearborn Middle School in Aurora, IN. I also substituted off and on in Hamilton county, OH for nearly ten years, including a long-term assignment where I taught Algebra II and AP Calculus.I have a Bachelors degree from Northern Kentucky University where I majored in mathematics (with an emphasis on Probability & Statistics) and minored in the biological sciences. Ive provided statistical support for a professor of biological sciences and worked in traditional tutoring centers and 1:1 in-home and library tutoring providing support to students in pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, trigonometry and pre-calculus and calculus. I'm certified in mathematics and science in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky.I specialize in tutoring math topics from pre-algebra through calculus and statistics. I'm patient and easy-going, and I explain mathematical concepts well. I provide homework help and explain theorems and examples in a way that is easy to understand for the student. One of the greatest rewards in this endeavor is to see a concept "click" with the student, and hearing the student say, "Oh, I get it now!" In each lesson the student will practice several problems at his or her own pace as I guide him or her along and provide simple explanations in the event the student gets stuck on a problem.

Preparing you for what the NCLEX really is about, how to manage your time, and how to answer the questions. Enhance those critical thinking skills and build good nursing judgement. As an experienced educator, trainer, and facilitator, I have spent most of my career in higher education, working and teaching at universities across the country and region.As a National Merit Finalist, I learned to excel at standardized tests, and enjoy imparting strategies to help students "defeat" the test. My approach to test prep focuses not only on content, but on understanding how to maximize returns on tests by focusing on strengths, creating small victories to reduce anxiety, knowing when to guess and when to omit an answer, and understanding context clues. I have an extensive background in etymology and Latin and can help students learn to decipher unfamiliar words. With regards to writing, I am equally comfortable emphasizing essay composition techniques to enable excellence in timed-writing scenarios, or guiding students to develop their own unique voice as a writer.The subjects that I enjoy digging into the most are english and history. I firmly believe in the interconnectedness of everything, and find that in understanding the past, and how writers chose to express their reality, we gain invaluable understanding of our self and our modern world. I love to find points of connection to emphasize the relevance of material to modern students - there are few better feelings than watching a student "get it" and to have played a part in that breakthrough.

I hope they will feel empowered to learn by my method.I entered the age of education again after 20 years-- to earn my Masters in Humanities and graduated in 2014. It was quite a process to learn how to manage my time again, get reacquainted with my study habits, and of course, become diverse in my thought processes and accepting criticism about my work. Learning a new topic or refreshing your knowledge in a subject an be quite scary. I know I was terrified. But, I am here to teach my methods and relive my testimonial through my students, you can fulfill your educational goals and be successful.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Kentucky in 2007 and my Master's of Science in Chemistry from Georgia Tech in 2010. Following graduation, I worked as a chemistry professor for 3 1/2 years at Gordon State College teaching General College Chemistry I & II (chemistry, inorganic chemistry, and physical chemistry) and Organic Chemistry I & II. For the first two years that I was a chemistry instructor I was the youngest faculty member on campus and my classes would always be among the first to fill up. In my classroom, my colleagues would describe me as being the goofiest person in the room but it was something that I found necessary to connect with my students. Being a younger professor I remember what it was like to be a student and I remember the things that truly got my attention. I would teach my classes using superheroes, football references, mythbusters, and even relate some material to the school bus. In my office hours, I would be able to find out what interested the students and come up with an example that they would be able to understand. In the sciences, I believe learning should be as much hands on as possible and I used a variety of outside resources to teach various concepts, whether it would be using balloons, dry ice, tennis balls and paper wads, or even LIGHTING WATER ON FIRE. In addition to all of the chemistry subjects (up to a graduate level), I am qualified to teach physics, algebras 1-4, geometry, pre-calculus, and can do SAT and ACT math prep.Outside of the classroom I enjoy watching football and college basketball, going to broadway shows like the Book of Mormon, Wicked, and Monty Python's Spamalot, and going to comic book conventions. After experiencing DragonCon while living in the Atlanta area, there is nothing more fun than watching people dress up in Halloween costumes when it's not Halloween. Finally, I am an avid bowler and love to cook as these are my releases when I am over stressed.

I received a B.S. in psychology from Loyola University Chicago in May 2014 and am currently working as a lab manager for the Visual Cognition Lab at Northwestern University. I'm from Cincinnati, OH and love spending weekends there with my family. I'm planning on attending doctoral school for a PhD in Neuropsychology after a few years of working and traveling. I fell in love with Italy while studying abroad in Rome and will take any chance I can get to go back! When I'm not working, I enjoy visiting art museums and seeing musicals and plays. I was a peer tutor at Loyola for two years and have been a private tutor for the past year. It has been a very fulfilling experience and a skill I would like to continue developing. It is such a joy for me to see the light of understanding in my students' eyes and be able to track their progress and academic achievements.
