I am a teacher with 15 years of experience who is passionate about helping students learn. I have worked with students with a wide variety of learning styles and I enjoy figuring out what works best for every individual. I am patient and creative, and I enjoy using my skills and experience to help others be (and maybe more importantly, feel) successful. I received my degree in Middle Childhood Education from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio and I earned my Master of Arts in Teaching through the Global Field Program at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Through the Global Field Program, I traveled to Belize, Costa Rica, Australia, and Hawaii on environmental education ecotours. I am grateful for these travel opportunities as well as the authentic, hands-on learning I received. My graduate program fueled my love of travel and I now have a life goal of visiting all of the US National Parks! I am well on my way, as I have already been to 23 and counting! When I am not traveling, I enjoy rock climbing, playing sand volleyball, rereading Harry Potter, re-watching Disney movies, and hanging out with my dog.I am available to tutor elementary and middle school students in math, science, social studies, English, and reading. I especially love tutoring math because there are so many different strategies you can use to solve math problems! My tutoring philosophy, like my teaching philosophy, is that everyone is capable of learning. All people have their strengths and areas where more growth is necessary, and sometimes it may take a student a bit more practice or a new strategy to become proficient at a skill, but everyone has the ability to learn and grow. I am always impressed by the students who know they need a bit more time or support to understand a concept and are willing to put in the extra work and effort in tutoring to meet their goals. After completing 8 years as an Army Aviation officer, I became a Scrum Master with a large medical device company that seeks to improve patient outcomes and improve time to market. I have worked with over five individual scrum teams as both a Scrum Master and an Agile coach. I have worked within a Scaled Agile Framework as a RTE in Training as the program moves towards a solution framework. I am exceptionally outgoing and love to engage on an individual level with students that want to sharpen their Scrum and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) skills. I will apply academic concepts with real-world experience to provide the best learning experience for each individual.
