My love for teaching began in the basement of my childhood home. I would call my little brother, my little sister, and all my stuffed animals down the stairs and set up my classroom. In high school, I was a member of the Shortridge High School Daily Echo newspaper. It was one of the few daily high school newspapers in the country. For three years, I was an editorial columnist on health and wealth topics for the Indianapolis Star. Due to the compelling topics and timeliness of issues, I appeared on local NBC and FOX 59 news segments. I am an author of two Personal Finance books Women and Money and The Value Book and a historical book, Indiana Avenue Life and Musical Journey from 1915 to 2015.I have a B.S. degree in Environmental Science from Stanford University and an MBA degree in Finance from Indiana University Kelley School of Business. I have completed 25 hours towards a Master of Science degree in Biomedical Writing from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.I have worked at Fortune 100 and major pharmaceutical companies such as Eli Lilly and Covidien.Tutoring ExperienceSince high school, I have tutored and mentored students from elementary to graduate school. I enjoy working with young people and helping them achieve a thirst and enthusiasm for learning! For almost three years in college I tutored hundreds of students in any subject that had anything to do with Mechanical Engineering. I have experience tutoring students with extremely different learning styles and I've learned to adapt to each in turn. I graduated in 2012 with a 4.0 in Mechanical Engineering from ASU and currently work full time, but I miss tutoring. So I'm back at it. My favorite subjects to tutor are Physics 1 & 2, Calc I, II , III, and Differential Equations.

Born and raised in New York, I am fortunate enough to have lived in two out of the five boroughs and the longest island in the contiguous United States. I studied Romance Languages in the big city, with minors in Psychology and Business, and I also studied abroad in Paris before receiving my Bachelor's degree in 2011. I am currently studying French Literary Translation at NYU and looking forward to visiting those sweet pastry shops of Paris again.I have tutored for about five years now and I enjoy it very much. I took quite a few AP classes in high school, so I understand how fast-paced some classes are and how overwhelming that can be for the student. I believe in spending the extra time to make sure that the student understands the new or difficult concepts so that he/she can feel confident in the subject and in himself/herself before we move on. I strive to create an environment that is both comfortable and productive, and I am not afraid to use technology and humor to help a student learn and retain new material. In my free time, I like to walk around the city in search of street fairs (and free food), watch sitcoms in foreign languages, experiment with baking and cooking, take trips with my family and friends, and practice yoga with my 2-year-old shih-tzu, Barem.

I am currently attending Baruch College (CUNY). I am majoring in Actuarial Sciences at Baruch.Throughout my academic career, both in high school and college, I have always been passionate about math and tutoring. This past year I have also tutored younger students who were prepping for the SHSAT.From my experience I have noticed students who are struggling in math only need a certain push to keep them on track. I firmly believe with the right help, students can not only be able to solve problems and understand material but they can approach tests with confidence. Math isn't impossible and I'm here to show my students that with a serious mindset they can succeed in their tests and should have no reason to be afraid. In my spare time I enjoy watching soccer, playing soccer, and performing magic.

I received my Bachelor of Arts in Applied Mathematics from the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas. I tutor any math up through high school Pre-Calculus. My favorite subject to tutor is Algebra because its fun to work with problems that require high-level logical and analytical thinking. These are essential skills every student (and every person) can benefit from practicing. From my past experience as a private tutor, I have found that students who struggle with math often do not receive a sufficient amount of time to process, understand, and practice what they learned class. Without a firm grasp on the content, students will quickly fall behind, as math builds upon itself. Understandably then, mathematics can seem daunting; however, math is really just a shorthand language we use to describe everyday thingsone just needs to take time and care to comprehend it. As a tutor, I give students the guidance and confidence they need in their own abilities to succeed. Since education ultimately exists to liberate people from ignorance, illuminating the "why" and the "how" behind things is very important to me. Making sure that students understand the content and can apply it outside of my help is my goal, as opposed to offering memorization tricks or shortcuts simply for the sake of completion, which benefit no one in the long run. When I'm not tutoring, you'll likely find me spending time with my husband and children. I also enjoy a wide range of outdoor and energetic activities, including playing recreational sports and visiting parks.

AP World History Tutor • +12 Subjects

I am a graduate of the Masters Program at Virginia Commonwealth University with my Master's in History. I also attended with Central Washington University, where I double majored in and graduated with Bachelor's degrees in History and Geography. Since graduation I have been searching for museum or archive work. I am a specialist in American and Military History. I am also knowledgeable in both World History and Geography, the latter of which I have my second Bachelor's in. I taught swim lessons to children for six years and that is the original basis for my tutoring knowledge. I will argue for in depth education in both my fields because the past and how we remember it matters and is part of the culture wars of today and where we are as a species and people determines so much of our lives.
