I completed my undergraduate education at Georgetown University and majored in psychology. Between undergraduate and graduate school I worked as a Clinical Research Associate at Medanta- The Medicity medical institution in Delhi, India. During the holidays, I love to travel and explore different cultures :) I primarily teach by using a lot of visuals, as I believe this is the best way to retain information; however, every student is different and I will make every effort to employ a teaching method that caters to the individual.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Biology where I focused on Molecular Biology and its application to Human Physiology and Anatomy. I am a scientist in Chemistry and Biochemistry. I received my Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of California San Diego (UCSD); also, I got my M.Sc. in Chemistry from UCSD. During graduate school, I was teaching assistant during 4 quarters in the areas of Structural Biochemistry, Recombinant DNA, Thermodynamics and Organic Chemistry. During college, apart from studying Chemistry, I taught English as a second language to students ranging from 13 to 40 years old. Moreover, I tutored teenagers who were learning Spanish as their second language. My favorite subject to teach is Biochemistry; I am fascinated by the way proteins are able to perform such amazing tasks in our bodies to keep us alive, healthy and strong. Furthermore, the biological processes taken place every day in our bodies are a vivid example of the great potential inherited in the human machine. I believe that the best way to learn is by teaching and communicating knowledge to others. Therefore, every time I teach someone I always encourage him or her to think as learning as an opportunity to seize the beauty of nature. Besides my interest in science, I like to read novels and biographies of people who inspired the world. Physical activity plays a key role in making my learning process easier and enjoyable; therefore, I run marathons and half-marathons and I also swim. Finally, the people I have tutored have always highlighted the patience and passion embedded in my personality when I teach the material they want to learn.

I received a B.S. in Marine Biology with a minor in Chemistry and went on to get a M.S. in Biology where I focused on population genetics of a local marine fish. I am an avid SCUBA diver and sailor but also enjoy hiking and tidepooling. In general, I love being outside.My passion is for marine biology. I have worked hard to learn more about marine life, and I am planning on making the study of marine life and teaching others my career. So much about biology interests me (organismal biology, molecular ecology, fish biology, evolution); however I have a very specific interest for population genetics of marine fish and fisheries. I understand that not everyone gets as excited as I do about biology (I sometimes binge watch programs like Planet Earth and Life), and I want to help them with their understanding of biology whether it be to just pass a course or because they also love biology.I have had the opportunity to teach students taking biology as a course requirement to those that have a passion for biology. I have taught courses in general biology for non-majors, organismal biology for majors as well as marine biology for majors and non-majors. I enjoyed teaching so much I plan to become a college professor so I can continue to share what I know with others.I generally have a laid back style when it comes to teaching or working with students one on one, however, this does not mean I will just provide answers. My approach is to guide students to the answer by asking questions about what the student already knows and lead them to the answer. In general I use questions and visual activities to help further a student's understanding. My goal is overall understanding of the subject material not just memorizing the answer.

Attending school at one of the best history departments in the country allowed me to develop a handful of studying, writing, and thinking skills that I try to teach to every student.I believe that all subjects that I teach can be exciting and fun, and it is the job of the teacher to approach the subject in the right way for the student to appreciate the subject. This is not to say, however, that I don't have expectations.
