I do my best to devote my time to things I enjoy!I am a recent graduate of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts where I received my B.F.A. in Drama with a minor in Applied Theatre. During my time at NYU, I studied at the Atlantic Acting School and the Experimental Theatre Wing, sang in a choir called Drama Cantorum, and co-founded a nationally-ranked improv team called Captain Soldier. I also spent an unforgettable semester abroad at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. Nowadays, I work with a theatre company called Grey Room NYC and a non-profit organization called Leave Out Violence. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, playing and watching basketball (Go Bulls!), enjoying funny television shows (Louie is my favorite), and playing music (guitar & piano).I consider myself blessed to have a creative mind and spirit; I always endeavor to bring this creativity into anything I do. I am a big proponent of thinking outside the box. In tutoring, my motto is "teach a student to fish and they possess improved test-taking skills for a lifetime." Specializing in ACT/SAT test preparation as well as Mathematics, I carry with me, aside from a substantial knowledge of all subjects, a "bag of tricks" made up of pneumonic devices, preparation skills, and exercises in focus/concentration. With any session, my goal is to deconstruct seemingly difficult concepts into more digestible steps -- in essence working with the student to develop a strategy that is personal to them, for any person will retain information most effectively when they are able to describe it in their own words.

When I get a tutoree I become invested in their progress and academic success and never have a 'my-way-or-the-high-way' mentality, but am flexible to trying to find new ways of teaching for however a particular student learns. I think this flexibility and dedication to making school work as easy as possible for my students is my strongest attribute as a tutor.I am available to work up to thirty hours per week. Friday through Sunday I would generally be free to tutor at any time; on Mondays, I am available during the day, and on Wednesdays, I am available from mid-afternoon (starting around three) through the evening. I am usually not available on Tuesdays or Thursdays. I would not need to take any month off.

I am a student at the University of Southern California, pursuing my Master's Degree in Geographical Information Science and Technology (GIST). I received a my Bachelor's Degree in Earth Sciences from USC in May of 2015. Education has always been an important part of my life and I love learning new things and helping others learn. I am passionate about the subjects that I tutor and I enjoy passing my enthusiasm for learning on to my students. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, hiking, camping, being outdoors, traveling, and doing yoga. I now work as an instructor for children with developmental disorders, using applied behavioral analysis therapy to decrease their maladaptive behaviors and increase behaviors that will help them to be successful in life. I love my job and working with children of all ages and will soon be applying to a Masters of Science program in clinical psychology.My past experience and current work have taught me that any student can learn any material no matter what her environmental, social, medical or academic background. I'm a New York transplant to LA, and a freelance composer and musician by nature. I am an artist and a teacher-- these are my two passions! I'm also a translator, linguistics nerd, avid reader, and fabulous teacher. I went to NYU and studied Linguistics, and am continuing my studies for an Applied Linguistics Masters here in California.I have been teaching and tutoring for many years, since I started college. I've done private SAT Prep tutoring both here and in New York, as well as prep for other standardized tests such as the ISEE, SSAT, and HSPT. I also teach a bi-weekly SAT Prep course in Glendale, and an advanced Competition Math class for two age groups (6-8 and 9-12). It's a lot of fun! I've always found math pretty neat and like to get students interested in it too!I love to travel and have been fortunate enough to do a lot of it during my quarter-century on this planetRussia, all over Europe, the Middle East, Venezuela, Mexico, India, and pretty much every state in this country. Now I am in my second year of medical school, once again at USC, with the hopes of either being a cardiologist or dermatologist -- still have plenty of time to decide! During college I tutored two kids in 6th through 8th grade math. I really enjoyed helping them with their homework assignments, preparing them for exams, and watching them improve in their courses. During this time, I learned how to be a very patient instructor and an effective communicator. As my dad was a high school math teacher, I also learned a few things from him about how to teach difficult subjects to students. Since I am in medical school, I obviously love science involving anything that has to do with the body, so I would be very excited to assist with biology or other topics in that area. In addition to general coursework, I'm more than happy to help with exam prep for the math, science, and writing sections of the SAT/ACT (no critical reading/reasoning...not a huge fan of that stuff!). Outside of school, I really enjoy traveling to other countries during breaks or whenever I get the chance. I love experiencing new cultures and diverse foods, and seeing sites that you can't see anywhere else.

Teachers made a huge difference in my life when I was growing up. Now, as an adult, I feel lucky to be able to give back as a tutor. I love getting to know my students, learning how they tick.
