My name is Drew Andersen and I am a freshman studying Physics and Mathematics at Occidental College in Pasadena, California. I have been tutoring high school students in mathematics and science for the past 3 years. While my methods in teaching rely on a few fundamental principles, I realize that each student I come into contact with learns in very different ways. I believe I am a good fit for your student not because of my knowledge in specific subjects, but my ability to cater to each student's individual learning strengths - creating a work environment in which your student is not only comfortable, but one in which they thrive.

My favorite subjects to tutor will always be Italian, science, and writing. Italian is close to my heart because of the years I lived in Italy. But science is the most fun to tutor, because you will usually get to build things, or at least draw some cool diagrams.I also love to teach writing because it's so much fun to see the look on a student's face when he or she realizes how easy it is. I had an amazing English teacher in high school who taught me a few simple formulas for writing. His shortcuts got me through an A.P. History exam, and they helped me all the way through college. I can teach them to you in an hour.If you master a few rules and get enough practice, you can become a strong writer.How you learn is a very personal process. It took me almost 2 weeks and I'm writing a book about it.I've also started a few home businesses, and lately I've been reading a lot of books on sales and marketing. At the moment I'm helping a real estate agent with his marketing, but some day I would like to run a bike touring company in Italy.

I attended school at University of California, Los Angeles and I have lived most of my life in LA. I enjoy teaching both Math and Physics. Every time that I step into the classroom I become energized even if I am very tired. My enthusiasm and energy are very contagious, and the students leave behind their negative attitudes towards the subjects and get engaged in learning them. At the end, the students come out with a very positive experience after taking the classes. When I am not teaching, I am out playing soccer, hiking, or fishing.

I am a recent graduate of Harvard University, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in English Literature with an emphasis on screenwriting. Although I love literature and writing, I am most passionate about tutoring math. I have five years of experience as a math tutor, during which time I helped students ages 3-17 with math ranging from basic arithmetic to pre-calculus. My favorite math topic is algebra, particularly because of its usefulness in solving real-world word problems. In addition to mathematics, I find joy in teaching/elucidating Shakespeare to high-school students. I am a graduate of Southern Methodist University. I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Studies, with a focus on acting and directing. Since beginning high school, I have spent much of my extracurricular and summer time tutoring, mentoring, and counseling students elementary though high school age. While a tutor a fair amount of subjects, I sincerely enjoy exploring English, Literature, and French. I love the English and Literatue because both subjects connect deeply to my love for theatre, and I love French because I have lived in France twice; once when I was 7 in Paris, and again when I was 16 in the Nord Pas-de-Calais region. I would say my teaching style depends directly on the student, but generally, I love acting like I'm a student too and find fun ways to address the issues they're facing in practical ways. I always try to get my students to appreciate the skills they develop by showing them how they're useful in everyday life. I enrolled in Loyola Marymount University and majored in Film Production. During this period, I worked as a teaching assistant for a film study course where I gave lectures about "the Art of Cinema". I also worked as simultaneous translator in my part time for several Chinese-American educational program.Right now, I'm working as a professional commercial editor in a TV company. But I have endless passion in language and teaching. I would like to find some opportunities to sharing my knowledge towards mandarin and Asian & US film industry.I'm a passionate and caring person.
