I am a graduate of McGill University (BA First Class Honors) and the University of Edinburgh (MSc First Class Honors with Distinction) with over eight years of tutoring experience. I am currently a curriculum developer for a company which creates relatable and culturally-literate courses for middle and high-schools, and am particularly adept at communicating and explaining concepts in a quirky, engaging, and intelligent manner. I was named Scotland International Young Thinker of the Year 2014 for exactly that sort of work. Much of my tutoring background is in test-prep and essay coaching, which I enjoy because it allows the tutor and student to think strategically together, and work as a team to achieve concrete results. I have worked with students ranging in age from 6-32, and believe that, in an educational context, a few jokes never hurt anybody. I love reading and learning, and my educational approach is centered around making the material just as engaging to students as it is to me. I think J.K. Rowlings, the writer of Harry Potter, is just as brilliant as Stephen Hawking, and in my free time, I manage my (terrible) fantasy baseball team, write songs for my comedy band, and crack jokes about terrible science-fiction movies with my friends.

I am a high school math teacher with a passion for demonstrating the practical use of math outside of the classroom. I pride myself in teaching critical thinking and decision making skills that cultivate a real world experience in my classroom to best prepare students for life after academia. I have an undergraduate and master's degree in engineering, and changed career paths into teaching because of my love for inspiring and mentoring kids. I am pursuing a graduate degree in education administration with the goal of becoming a principal so I can build stronger urban schools with better resources and implement instructional strategies geared towards disadvantaged youth.
I am determined to maximize my own potential and I am driven to heighten my level of cultural competency through global travel. As you can glean from my academic background I am deeply committed to the acquisition and refinement of knowledge. I enjoy helping others gain access to meaningful educational opportunities and excel in them, which is why I have developed a career in higher education administration. I currently work with international students and scholars in a law school, but my experience with academic services dates back to my time as an undergraduate writing tutor at Kent State. This is were I cultivated the ability to modify my teaching style in accordance with individual learning differences. In other words, I do not enter a tutoring or advising session with a one-size-fits-all mentality. I put my full energy toward helping students develop a personal writing style that is shaped by best practices and can be applied to a number of works, including personal statements, cover letters and analysis papers.
I am a graduate of the University of Calgary, where I received my Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. Since graduation, I have worked as a software developer and have practical experience with variety of technologies. I tutor a variety of subjects related to Computer Science, including computer languages used in web development like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Ruby. My favorite part of teaching Computer Science concepts is helping students break down a complicated subject into manageable parts and build up a powerful understanding -- much like the practice of software engineering itself. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, music, art, and hiking.
I am a former elementary and middle-school teacher and am now looking to use my teaching knowledge and experience to tutor. I received my bachelor's degree in Science-Business from the University of Notre Dame and my master's degree in Secondary Education from Providence College. I taught 5-8th grade math for two years and 5th grade math, English/Language Arts, Reading, and Religion for 1 year. I am no longer teaching because I am back in school myself, but would love to use my experience as an educator to tutor you or your child!
I am a graduate of the Ohio State University, where I completed a BA summa cum laude in linguistics and Romance studies with specializations in French, Spanish, and Italian. I then completed a JD at Cornell University, where I used my language skills to focus on international and comparative law, as well as developing particular skills in criminal law and general trial advocacy. In addition, I spent a year in France at the Universit Paris 1 Panthon-Sorbonne, where I obtained an LLM (master of laws) in French, European, and international law. Outside of academia, I have worked as a document translator and an in-court interpreter in both French and Spanish and have worked directly with French- and Spanish-speaking clients in legal and financial settings. As an undergraduate student, I was French-language liaison to the Modern Languages and Cultures Undergraduate Council, in which position I oversaw tutoring sessions, organized conversation and culture hours, and represented the interests of Francophone students and French learners at Council meetings. In addition, I co-directed an outreach program to local elementary schools, teaching both French and Spanish to children in grades K-4. On the legal side, I have worked in immigration, contract, family, and criminal law, and have been a teaching assistant for legal courses and served as a graduate-student mentor for pre-law students.
I am honored to be able to help children and young adults succeed in academia and know the gratification of good grades, a good score, or simply a lesson well learned. I encourage my students to see the opportunities learning presents, and I help them use their unique skills and gifts to approach learning in their own way, at their own pace, with whatever assistance they need.
I am a recent graduate with a master's in electrical engineering from Case Western Reserve University. I won the Bill and Melinda Gates Millennium Scholarship which covers full tuition up to Ph.D. I was on the Dean's List for three consecutive years. Additionally, I won the OZY Media Genius Award in 2015 to work on high-temperature superconductors. I currently work as a Technology Analyst at Accenture. I am also seriously considering whether I should go for a Ph.D. or not.
I'm a recent college graduate with degrees in Biological Sciences and Russian from Ohio University. During my time there, I tutored students in a variety of subjects, including biology, chemistry, and Spanish. In addition, I worked as both a peer advisor and teaching assistant, which gives me insight into the learning strategies and study skills that students need to succeed. As a tutor, I like to focus on doing actual problems with students because it is the most effective way to immediately identify their strengths and weaknesses and to address them. In my free time, I like to lift weights, read books, and spend time with my friends.
I am most interested in tutoring Math (geometry, algebra 1/2/prealgebra, trigonometry), Physics 1 and 2, General Chemistry (Honors, AP, or college level), and the MCAT Foundations of Physical Science and Critical Analysis and Reasoning sections.
I am tutoring with a new student. Otherwise, I would probably ask them if they had any problems or concerns before beginning the tutoring.
I am a recent graduate of The Ohio State University, where I received a Bachelor's of Science in Exercise Science Education. At Ohio State, I also was a Defensive Back on the football team, and have tutored many of my teammates. We accomplished much as a team, and became 2014-2015 College Football National Champions. Furthermore, I was named an OSU Scholar Athlete four times, and selected to the Academic All-Big Ten team two times. I will be beginning medical school in August of 2016. Before that begins, I am working as a personal trainer/performance coach, in addition to tutoring.
