I am excited to tailor each and every session to a particular student's needs and preferred method of learning.

I am a cultural anthropologist by trade, but have more than five years of experience teaching a wide arrange of topics in the social sciences and language studies. I have taught and tutored students in countries like Colombia, Mexico, Germany, Canada and the United States, but I have been able to travel and engage with learners with an even wider arrange of culturally diverse backgrounds. I myself am Colombian, bilingual, and a believer in an approach to teaching that prioritizes informed conversation and dialogue, while encouraging critical thinking and gaining skills that will be useful in futural professional and academic fields.
I'm from upstate New York and I love to be outside, play guitar, and work out. I have 3 siblings, so I'm used to helping people strengthen their skills and learn new ones. I love most math classes, and I'm attending Boston College in the Carroll School of Management Honors Program. I intend on majoring in finance and mathematics. I look forward to working with you!
I'm an incoming sophomore at Brown University studying Applied Mathematics-Economics, and math has always been one of the subjects I enjoy most. I scored a 790 on the SAT Math section, but what I'm most proud of is the work it took to get there. I had to learn how to slow down, spot patterns in my mistakes, and understand exactly why I was losing points. That process is a big part of how I tutor. Before college, I spent three years teaching at Kumon, where I worked with students from kindergarten through 12th grade in both math and English. That experience taught me how different every student is. Some students need help building confidence with the basics, while others are trying to push an already strong score even higher. Either way, I know how important it is to be patient, clear, and encouraging. My approach is simple. I meet students where they are, figure out what is actually causing the confusion, and build from there. I do not believe in rushing through problems or making students feel bad for not understanding something right away. My goal is to make SAT math feel less intimidating and more manageable by breaking questions down step by step. Whether you are trying to break 600, reach 700, or push toward a top score, I would love to help you get there. I genuinely enjoy teaching this material, and I will be fully invested in helping you reach your goal.
I am dedicated to helping students achieve their learning goals, and to making learning and mastering materials fun.
I am available throughout the week, including summer! Let me help you help yourself!
I am looking for additional opportunities to work with students beyond my teaching career. I am a passionate and enthusiastic teacher who has experience working at the elementary, middle and high school level. I have taught both English and Remedial Reading classes at these levels, and I have a passion for working with struggling students and helping them succeed. I have a Bachelors Degree in English Education and a Masters in Literacy. I have done extensive work with curriculum development for Reading and English classes. I love collaborating with others, and I feel that I do a great job building relationships with my students that help them succeed. I enjoyed planning lessons that appeal to the interests of my students and also meet their learning needs because I feel this is when my students are most successful.
I'm a music producer, label owner, and educator with releases and a degree to prove it. With 3 EPs and 2 singles out now, I also run a queer electronic music label, building a platform for underrepresented voices in dance music and beyond. My production work spans EDM, hip-hop, and pop, and I bring that real-world experience into every lesson. I teach music production and have significant experience in FL Studio and Ableton, and I try to integrate music theory in an easy-to-understand way to make it less confusing and "boring." I hold a Music Education degree from McGill University in Montreal, where I spent five years studying music, education, and performance. I'm putting this education degree to use by developing an e-learning academy for music producers, making high quality production education accessible and affordable for the next generation of artists.
I am passionate about business, economics, and management and have nearly ten years of experience. I believe that when one teaches, two learn-the student and the teacher.
I am an interdisciplinary educator with an Ed.M. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a B.A. from Dartmouth College. My background is primarily in integrated arts learning and museum education and I specialize in visual arts, history and art history, and object-based learning. In all subjects, I take a creative, inquiry-based and learner-centered approach, designing opportunities for each unique individual to meet their learning goals.
I'm not tutoring or buried in my textbooks, you will either find me rock climbing at the Triangle Rock Club, playing Ultimate Frisbee, working on my car, or enjoying the great outdoors (beaches, mountains, forests--you name it, I love it). On rainy weekends I enjoy tinkering with computers and old electronics, playing Pokemon, or picking at my guitar.
I am a recent graduate from a masters program in biostatistics at Columbia University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in biological sciences, with a focus in neurobiology at Northwestern University. In August, I will be starting a doctoral program in biostatistics at NYU. I was a teaching assistant at Columbia University in my department and also have tutored graduate students and undergraduates privately as well. My primary areas of tutoring are math and statistics coursework in addition to math sections on standardized tests such as the GRE and GMAT. I am very passionate about helping students feel more confident and excited about math. In my spare time, I enjoy running, playing piano, and spending time with friends and family.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Albany is home to 13 school districts serving over 17,000 students across 51 schools, and Varsity Tutors connects students from all of them with personalized tutoring. Whether your student attends a school in the Albany City School District, Bethlehem, Guilderland, or another local district, we match them with tutors who understand New York's curriculum standards and can support their specific academic goals.
New York has rigorous academic standards across math, English language arts, science, and social studies, and tutors work directly with students to build mastery in these areas. Whether preparing for Regents exams, state assessments, or strengthening foundational skills, personalized 1-on-1 instruction allows tutors to focus on exactly where each student needs support—something that's harder to achieve in classrooms with the district average of 14.7 students per teacher.
Albany students commonly seek help with math (especially algebra, geometry, and regents prep), English language arts and writing, chemistry and biology, and test preparation for the SAT and ACT. We also work with students on study skills, organization, and confidence-building—especially important as they progress through New York's increasingly rigorous coursework in middle and high school.
The first session is a get-to-know-you meeting where the tutor learns about your student's academic history, current challenges, learning style, and goals. They'll assess where your student stands, discuss what success looks like, and create a personalized plan together. This foundation ensures every session that follows is focused and productive.
Pricing varies based on the subject, tutor expertise, and frequency of sessions—we work with families to find an arrangement that fits their budget and schedule. Many Albany families find that personalized tutoring prevents the need for more expensive interventions later, and the focused 1-on-1 approach means faster progress compared to group settings.
Varsity Tutors connects students with tutors who have deep subject expertise and proven teaching experience. Tutors are carefully selected and vetted, and many have backgrounds in education, advanced degrees in their subject areas, or years of professional experience. Each tutor is matched to your student based on their specific needs and learning goals.
Absolutely. Regents exams are a key part of New York's education system, and tutors specialize in helping students master the content and test-taking strategies needed to succeed. Whether your student is preparing for Regents in math, English, science, or social studies, personalized instruction allows tutors to focus on the specific topics and question types where they need the most support.
Simply reach out to Varsity Tutors with information about your student's grade level, subject, and goals. We'll match them with a qualified tutor, schedule an initial session, and get started. Most families see the benefit of tutoring quickly—especially when the tutor is focused entirely on their student's needs rather than managing a classroom of 15 or more.
