I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Creative Writing from the University of San Diego in 2014. During my time at USD, I tutored for three years at the University of San Diego Writing Center. There I worked with a wide variety of students, primarily in essay writing for literature courses but also in creative writing and a handful of other subjects. I also spent a lot of time tutoring English as a Second Language (ESL) students, and I have my Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) certification. My favorite strategy for working with a student on either their writing or their critical reading skills is reading aloud. Since English is primarily a spoken language, I strongly believe that you can improve your understanding of literature and your ability to write by hearing the words on the page, instead of just seeing them.I am most passionate about helping students because I have been so fortunate to have teachers and professors who cared about my own learning enough to make me want to learn for my own sake, not just for a grade. The best qualities a student can have are the willingness to work hard and a love of learning, because this will follow them through their whole life - even after school is over.I tutor English and Literature, including essay writing and grammar and mechanics, as well as SAT prep and college essays. I really enjoy working with students on their college application essays because the typical essay questions require a student to write about their passions and what means the most to them. In these sessions, I have the opportunity to get to know my student at a personal level and help them to use their writing skills for the practical purpose of getting into the college or university of their choice.When I'm not tutoring, I enjoy reading a variety of fiction and nonfiction novels, looking for great places to hike, and playing with my dog, Lily.

I am a graduate of Cincinnati Christian University, receiving a B.A., and later an M.A. and an M.Div. I attended a language school in San Jose, Costa Rica for 6 months, and recently completed a TEFL certification for teaching English as a foreign language. I have been teaching in different capacities for most of my life, including 17 years and counting at Mid-South Christian College, 5 years teaching English to children in China, and helping homeschool our 4 children. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most interested in Spanish, English, and reading. I love working with people of all ages and helping them to develop their interests and their potential through encouragement, guidance, and a varied approach. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, walking, reading, and watching a good movie.

I am 27 years old, having just completed a Masters degree in Medical Sciences from the University of South Florida. I am living in Jacksonville until I hear from medical schools.As an educator, I know how to help each student get the most out of the material. I am very patient, but know when to challenge the student appropriately. Having worked in the corporate and childcare settings, and teaching as a substitute, I bring a blend of experiences that have showed me that good communication is key to successful student outcomes.

I graduated from Flagler College with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, with endorsements in ESOL and Reading (K-12). Tutoring to me means helping students acquire the skills needed to successfully and consistently pass exams.There is an important difference between reading subject material (which can often be boring), and studying subject content (which is much more likely to be dynamic). I acquired my medical diploma while residing in a foreign country, studying in a foreign language, and because of that I could not learn the material simply by reading textbooks. Instead, I learned to study in a focused, dynamic manner that allowed me to succeed both academically and professionally.I currently enjoy surfing, sailing, and other outdoor activities.

I love applied mathematics. Most of my research has been in economic stocadtic modeling, but is increadibly multifacisted. I have also worked for a wind energy company to complete a data analytics project. Math is just a tool I get to use to do other really cool stuff, and I love sharing my passion for math and quantitative sciences with students.I also have a passion for languages because with different languages you get to unlock different cultures.
