I am a second year student majoring in biochemistry at Case Western Reserve University. Outside of Varsity Tutoring, I tutor high school students every week in Math, English, and standardized tests. Music has always been a passion in my life, and it excites me to help students to fall in love in music. One of my favorite experiences in tutoring was when I taught a dozen children how to play basic notes on the recorder in Papua New Guinea (tropical island in South East Asia).Math is another favorite subject to tutor because I believe every student can become proficient in math when they learn that math is just using blocks of knowledge to overcome problems. As such, I am never discouraged if students are struggling in math; instead, I focus on their strengths and encourage them to use what they know to steadily tackle each question with confidence. In high school, when I researched and presented on the applications of calculus in medicine, I remember how rewarding it was to finally understand how to derive formulas for calculating blood flow in arteries. Finally in my spare time, I like to read the New York times, listen to a cappella music, or exercise in the gym.

I am an upcoming junior at Case Western Reserve University, currently pursuing a B.S. in biology with minors in psychology and chemistry. I enjoy being a camp counselor for the science camps at the Great Lakes Science Center, and more recently was an undergraduate teaching assistant for BIOL 215: Cells and Proteins. As a TA, I mainly worked with students who struggled with the class, but I greatly enjoyed helping students regardless of their skill level. As a biology major, with a particular interest in microbiology, I enjoy tutoring biology the most. However, I am happy to help with any subject that I'm knowledgeable in, especially writing. I have always had a passion for education, and am considering teaching at the college level someday. I believe that taking an individual's learning style into consideration is essential and very helpful to those who have not tried learning in their ideal way before. Outside of college work, I walk dogs part time, go on nature walks, and take care of the numerous furry and scaly creatures I have at home.

Hello! I have been tutoring the LSAT privately for the past year, and I absolutely love this test. It's fun, engaging, and something that is entirely learnable if you're willing to put the effort in. I can help you with strategies to bump up your school and get into your chosen law school, hopefully with a great scholarship.I attended Case Western Reserve University, where I majored in Philosophy and Political Science. I also received my MA from Case Western in Military Ethics. I'll be heading back to Case in the fall for law school, where I have been given a fellowship covering the full cost of my tuition. Most importantly, let's make it, so you don't pay for law school! I look forward to helping you achieve your goals through collaboration and individualized study plans.

AP Comparative Government and Politics Tutor • +23 Subjects
I graduated from Seattle University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. I'm currently seeking admission to a Master of Education or Master of Arts in Teaching program in the Cleveland area. This is my first professional foray into tutoring, but I have extensive experience mentoring and teaching students at the high school and middle school level. As a junior and senior in high school, I taught my school's journalism program. I designed lesson plans, gave lectures, graded homework assignments, and led my class in producing a paper that was ranked best in south-central Alaska by the Anchorage Daily News. All the while, I was working to keep highly-motivated, high-performing students interested and engaged while ensuring that students who needed more attention received the care and assistance they required. Over those two years, I developed an interest in education that has since guided me to pursue a career as an educator.I tutor in the following areas: PSAT, PSAT Critical Reading, PSAT Writing Skills, SAT Critical Reading, SAT Math, SAT Subject Test in Literature, SAT Verbal, SAT Writing, Grammar and Mechanics, Literature, Public Speaking, History, AP Comparative Government and Politics, AP U.S. Government & Politics, AP United States History, European History, and Geography. Of these subjects, there's nothing I like more than tutoring history. Schools frequently give this subject short shrift, and helping students understand the reasons and context for why history has unfolded the way it has is deeply rewarding.I grew up in an educational tradition that focused on the student and saw the teacher as a facilitator who helps students cultivate knowledge. The teacher (or tutor) is a guide, but much of that role is tied to helping students find confidence so they can continue their education independently throughout their lives.Outside of academia, I spend a lot of time reading (lots of non-fiction), writing, running, camping, watching movies, and cooking. I spend a lot of time playing with my cat, Midway, and doing what I can to help my wife through law school. I am also a die-hard soccer fan: I watch it; I play it; and I'm avid supporter of Arsenal FC, BVB Dortmund, and FC Barcelona.

I am a high school graduate currently attending Case Western Reserve University as a junior where I am double majoring in economics and physics. Although economics and physics are my majors, mathematics is my favourite subject. The reason I am tutoring is that I want to provide help in mathematics and other subjects which I did not have for myself when I was in high school. Not only do I want to tutor because I have a feeling it will be beneficial for students but I also enjoy teaching. Whenever I show teenagers something cool about physics or math, they seem to enjoy the subject more now that they know how it works and they also do better in their classes which is a great feeling for me and beneficial for the students. This friendly but passionate tutoring style is what will make the session enjoyable by both parties but also result in better grades. I also love sports(especially soccer and basketball), reading, writing and speedcubing.

I started my educational journey after high school at the Ohio State University in engineering. I finished with a Bachelor or administrations from Indiana Wesleyan, then a Master of Education in Special Education with a reading endorsement from Notre Dame College. I believe in life long learning. I believe every person learns differently and the education system should help each student determine their best way of learning.

My goal as a teacher is to impart knowledge of the subject matter and enthusiasm for the material to as many students as possible. Making the material enjoyable to students requires employing multiple methods for teaching the subject matter. Each student will approach a subject from a different background, each student will learn most effectively through a different method, and each course will require a different technique.Having served as a teaching assistant at three different universities, I have experience at connecting with students regardless of the campus, class sizes, and student backgrounds. My biggest strength as a teaching assistant and a lecturer has been my ability to connect with students with diverse backgrounds enough so they feel comfortable approaching me with questions or concerns about the material. My students have a diverse range of educational and economic backgrounds, so I have to cater the material accordingly. Classes I have served as a TA for include thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and materials science. I have also taught chemical engineering thermodynamics and tutored ACT/SAT/PSAT prep for high school students, and high school math and science. In addition, I have worked in various biological and engineering labs over the years, so I have technical expertise in many general undergraduate science classes. One of my main goals as an educator is to produce students that both feel confident in their own abilities to do independent work while also knowing when and how to rely on individuals with other skill sets to help fill in the gaps. While my students submit homework and tests individually, projects are conducted as group work, and I encourage students to work collaboratively while solving homework problems. This is to encourage better material understanding and a necessary skill in teamwork, while also making sure students are taking some initiative and are not completely reliant upon their classmates.I hope this gives you a sense for the kind of tutor I will be. Please let me know if you have any questions.
