I earned a master's of teaching at Dominican University in Illinois and graduated with a B.A in Geography and Urban Studies from Macalester College. I currently am taking a break as a classroom teacher and am working on a political campaign in Minneapolis. I received my BA from Augustana University with a major in Biology and a minor in Psychology. I grew up thinking that I wanted to become a Physician Assistant, but learned through being a Teaching Assistant during undergrad that I loved teaching. After graduating with my BA degree, I attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham to get my Masters in Anatomical Sciences and a CIRTL Associate certificate so that I could teach at an upper level. I have multiple semesters-worth of experience as a Teaching Assistant for Biology and Anatomy, both throughout my undergraduate and graduate degrees. My favorite subject is Anatomy, but I enjoy teaching other Biology subjects as well! I believe that all students are capable of learning, and it is my responsibility to help them find the ways they learn best and most enjoy. Outside of teaching, I like being outside doing activities that include hiking, disc golf, sand volleyball, and golf, as well as painting, and enjoying a good TV show or movie with friends.

I hold two master's degrees: one in human rights policy from the University of Minnesota, and one in discrete mathematics from Michigan Technological University, where I also completed my undergraduate studies with a dual major in computer science and mathematics and a physics minor. As part of my master's program, I held an assistantship teaching first-year calculus for three semesters (after one semester of training), and I have worked with individual students for several years through private tutoring work. I've also worked as a teaching assistant for linear algebra and later calculus courses.In addition to my tutoring work, I am also pursuing a public policy career, intending to use my multidisciplinary background to use helping address the complex intersection of developing technologies and human rights issues.

I have always been passionate about education and learning, but I didn't realize that I wanted to be a teacher until after I had already spent five years working in finance. After graduating from the University of Florida with an accounting degree, I began my professional career as a Finance Analyst at Goldman Sachs. I stayed in that role for two years and then moved into investor relations. While I learned a lot from this experience, ultimately I wanted to do something that made more of a positive impact on society. I decided to pursue a career in education because I wanted to help provide students with the same opportunities that I received.I am now pursuing a Master's Degree in education from the University of Minnesota and am working toward obtaining my K-6 elementary teaching license. During the day, I work full time as a reading tutor at a school in South Minneapolis. I enjoy basketball, video games, hiking, and reading.
