I am a biomedical engineer working in orthopedic research. My degree is from Arizona State University in Biomedical Engineering. I have experience helping people learn in many different stages of life, from age 3 to adults, including preschool, elementary, middle school, as well as high school students. I love math and science and I love sharing that love with other people. Technology is also a passion of mine and I have experience helping people get up to speed with helpful skills for the professional environment.As a tutor, I believe that everyone benefits from encouragement - so many times the barrier to learning is confidence! I also graduated from the University of California Hastings Law School with a J.D. and a concentration in International Law. Before attending college and law school, I basically ate, breathed, and slept debate and forensics. I then coached policy debate and extemporaneous speech in college in addition to tutoring high school students through the "A Better Chance" organization. During my college years, I also became a passionate advocate for human rights, danced and choreographed with a modern dance troupe and had several plays produced. In law school, I continued my human rights advocacy work, studied at the San Francisco Academy of Ballet and worked as both a research assistant to numerous professors and as a teaching assistant in many classes. I also tutored students in PSAT, SAT Verbal, ACT, AP History, English and Literature preparation through "Ivy West" while I was living in the San Francisco Bay area.Now that I am living in Minnesota, I am thrilled to be working with Varsity Tutors. Seeing how much one's language affected how they saw the world made me appreciate our brains even more.Following graduation, I traveled to Playa Samara, Costa Rica to become EFL/ESL certified and it was one of the best experiences I have had. I enjoyed getting to know all my students and their strengths as well as implementing both the new teaching techniques I learned in the program and the teaching techniques I learned in my neuroscience and psychology classes (including many language learning theories).
