I am a current Junior at Columbia University, working towards my BA in English and Psychology. For the past eight years, I have been tutoring individuals and groups of all ages, specializing in English as a Second Language students. I have tutored in a variety of subjects but have had the most experience as a writing and reading comprehension and SAT tutor. I believe in a teaching style that is adaptable to the student, and I also believe, of course, that learning should be fun! Outside of my academic interests, I'm a varsity fencer on the Columbia team, and I love film, television, and art.

I have lived in four countries in my life: England, USA, Nicaragua and Italy. I consider myself to be a global citizen and that colors everything that I do, including teaching and tutoring.I have been teaching Spanish for 14 years. I have taught both Spanish and English in London England. I enjoy helping students learn Spanish and expanding their vision of the world and the Spanish diaspora. In addition, I am an avid reader and writer. I first suspected that I would enjoy teaching in high school, when I tutored a friend in Latin and found that I enjoyed working with others to share my knowledge. This was reinforced during my undergraduate studies, when I worked with the university tutoring office, and was confirmed in graduate school, when I found I had a greater passion for teaching than for research. I have been involved in education ever since, tutoring students independent, serving as the math tutor at ITT Technical Institute, and most recently as a substitute teacher, where my greatest joy comes when I am given the opportunity to work with and assist the students.I excel in teaching languages, particularly Latin and Ancient Greek, and I have found that I have an aptitude for conveying math concepts in a way that is understandable and approachable for students. I remember my own challenges when I learned new concepts, and I try to draw on those to anticipate problems that my students may have.Whatever challenges you may face, I will happily and patiently work with you to solve them; if we can't resolve them in one session, I will research tools to help for the next session. It gives me pleasure to see students succeed, and I hope that I will be able to help you in your academic endeavors!

I am a graduate of Rutgers University, New Brunswick. I double majored in Chemistry and History receiving a BA in both Chemistry and History. I then pursed a Ph. D. in chemistry at the University of Pennsylvania studying the synthesis of Marine Natural Products. After receiving my Ph. D. I proceeded to complete a post-doctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School studying biochemistry. I have worked as a scientist in an agricultural chemistry company and have taught Chemistry and Biochemistry at both the undergraduate and graduate level. I have tutored at both the high school and college level in a wide range of subjects in chemistry including introductory chemistry, life science/nursing chemistry courses, organic chemistry and biological chemistry. I firmly believe that all students can excel in chemistry and that much of the disconnect between the student and material is the abstract nature of chemistry. By using real world examples from everyday life and carefully crafted analogies many principles can be understood. In addition I have worked extensively on academic outreach programs focusing on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and chemistry education in underresprented minorities both at the high school and college level. In my free time I enjoy training for and competing in triathlons, cooking and watching local professional and collegiate sports.

I spent my entire Junior year working as a Spanish tutor and worked at Ernst & Young in Buenos Aires this past summer. I was previously a yoga instructor, am a huge Chicago Sports fan, and love speaking Spanish! I'm very outgoing and hand-on with my teaching and look forward to a rewarding and pleasant learning experience with you!I have worked as counselor at an overnight camp for 2 years and have a lot of working with kids. I also was a tutor during my senior year of high school and gained some experience working with foreign exchange students.My hobbies include drawing, cooking, playing basketball, traveling, and listening to music.
