I am a graduate of the University of Arizona. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Classics with a focus on Roman history, disease in the ancient world, and public health. During my undergraduate studies I studied abroad in Italy and focusses on Roman architecture and art history. Since graduation I have completed a Masters in Public Health with a focus on epidemiology and infectious diseases. I have been fortunate to teach for two years at an online university, helping students pursue their dreams of medical coding and billing. I taught classes on medical ethics, anatomy, public health, healthcare compliance, etc. During this time I also completed a Master in Arts, focusing on international security and policy. I thoroughly enjoy helping students not only understand their studies but feel comfortable with the material so that they can apply their own experiences to it. Education and the pursuit of knowledge are passions of mine, so I truly love getting to help students have their "aha!" moment with a tough subject. Getting to see the happiness that comes after understanding and enjoying an academic lesson or subject makes my day! In my spare time, I enjoy pilates, spending time with my rescue dogs, and reading.

Hello! I'm Dennis, a recent graduate from Grand Canyon University with a degree in Computer Science. The languages I am most confident in are C, C++, and Python (4 years + experience). I'm also perfecting my skills in JavaScript for web development so I can make cool dynamic HTML pages.I'm a visual learner so when I instruct I like to draw the objects being discussed. Using drawings to represent object oriented programming makes explaining concepts easier because the student can rely on these visuals to think about how a problem should be approached.

After volunteering as a tutor in middle school, I quickly realized how rewarding it is to help someone of any age pursue their learning goals. Starting University High School in Tucson (go Penguins!), I soon sought out more opportunities to tutor. I became a B'nei Mitzvah tutor at my synagogue, and saw several students privately for help in math and reading. I graduated from University High School with Honors in 2016, and I currently am a student at Barrett, The Honors College at Arizona State University, pursuing concurrent degrees in Political Science and Russian. Social Studies subjects, as you might have guessed, are my favorite subjects to tutor; however, having extensive experience working with elementary and middle school students, I feel comfortable with math, reading, writing, and science at those levels. Additionally, after taking a large amount of AP's in high school, I am well versed in the requirements to score well on these tests. Tutoring is a means to foster the "independent learner" within every student, and through developing a participatory relationship with the student, I believe this can be accomplished in a cordial and respectful manner. Beyond academics, I love to hike or go for an early morning bike ride followed by a nice home cooked breakfast. I enjoy reading a variety of books, from histories to science fiction; singing (mostly in the shower); and when it's the season, strapping on my skis and heading to the nearest mountain.

I began my tutoring career as a chemistry teaching assistant while obtaining my undergraduate degree in biochemistry at Augusta University. During my time as an undergrad, I focused intently on organic chemistry with an emphasis on pharmacology. It was during this time that I also conducted research in medicinal chemistry at Georgia State University. After completing my undergraduate coursework, I moved to Hawaii to study acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine. While I was working on my master's degree I worked as an instructor for pharmacy technicians and medical assistants at Heald College and Hawaii Medical College.Working as an instructor while attending classes taught me how valuable a student's time is and showed me how difficult balancing work, school, and family can be. I feel that this experience has helped me to connect with my students by showing me how to identify and remove learning barriers to ensure success.Currently, I am residing in Arizona in the next phase of my academic journey. Looking back, I never would have thought that my path would have taken the course that it has but the goal has always been the same medical school. Now with my academic finish-line in sight, I am here to help students achieve their goals, realize their true potential, and overcome their fears. My time as an instructor has helped me to demystify the learning process and as a life-long learner I have picked up more than a few tricks along the way.Whenever possible I try to break down lessons into their core concepts to form a strong foundation for future progress utilizing repetition, mnemonics, and productive study habits. I want to give my students the tools they need to succeed so that they can find their way and achieve their best life. When I am not consumed by my coursework, I like to hang out with my partner and our dogs, eat good food, go hiking, camping, and make trips to the beach. If the weather is bad, I'll find a good show to stream or play video games.Currently, my favorite courses are anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry. I am basically a science nerd and I enjoy sharing my love of learning with others. Even if it has been several years since I have seen the material, I enjoy the thrill of relearning something I have forgotten as a team. After all, the learning never stops, and there is always something to be discovered if you dig a littler deeper.

I graduated high school from Bakersfield Christian high school and went out to Arizona to now attend Grand Canyon University for a degree studying Special and Elementary Education. Teaching is a major passion for me because I love kids and want each student to find how they can be successful in life by finding their own passion. Through middle and high school, I tutored any elementary subject that was needed for the children I babysat for. For my friends that I tutored, I mostly stuck with math and history because those are the subjects I did best in. I don't have a specific tutoring style because I think it is best to accommodate for the students needs individually, not just assume what works for one child is going to work for another. Although a lot of my time is taken up with school and work, I also enjoy reading, painting, and anything that gives me an excuse to hang out with my friends.
