I have a masters degree in biological anthropology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Oregon. I am a middle school earth science and math teacher. I have taught students from preschool through university level. I enjoy encouraging students to be active participants in their learning and to think critically. I also have an extensive background in primatology and a passion for wildlife conservation.

Mathematics was my first love as a child and I was incredibly fortunate to have mentors throughout my youth who helped me pursue that passion. When I discovered physics as a high school student, it was immensely exciting to see mathematics used in an entirely different yet exceedingly beautiful and useful way. At college, I chose to study both subjects equally. Math and physics serve as great complements to each other -- each subject helped me understand the history and structure of the other.For over twenty years now, I've helped students get what they need out of their math and physics courses as well, and often to see a little of the beauty that originally brought me to these subjects.
