I am currently an undergraduate student at Rice University, where I'm double majoring in Statistics and Operations Research (a specific field of applied math). I've served as a private tutor for some middle school students, but I've also tutored peers while in high school as a part of my school's Math Honors Society. As many could probably guess by now, I'm most passionate about mathematics and seeing how I can make it more accessible to other students. Math can seem like a daunting subject to learn, but I promise that anyone appreciate and gain skills in it!

I am an Applied Physics Major with an Emphasis in Mechanical Engineering at Brigham Young University. I love to share the joy I have in the sciences and math to show truly the applications are so far-reaching.
I'm here to help in your math and physics classes! As a rising senior in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Tennessee, I've been through nearly every math and physics course. I would like to use my past experience and education to help you excel in your STEM classes. Likewise, I feel that my approach to preparing for the STEM portion of the ACT will be helpful to college bound students. I have been the beneficiary of excellent instruction over my time as a student, and would enjoy teaching others. I am comfortable with any subject that I am certified to teach, and have a ton of resources to aid in your learning.
I am a junior Mechanical Engineering major at Yale, and I hope to become a Naval Aviator after college. I am also a varsity sailor, and enjoy playing music with friends when I can get some free time. I have been tutoring my fellow students throughout my entire academic career, and I would best describe my tutoring style as one that adapts to each students' needs. For example, I have always tried to frame questions in a different way so that the student can better understand the question. Some students need visual representations of numbers and systems to understand them, and others benefit more by understanding the concepts behind each formula. I prefer to tutor in math and physics, and especially with real world application problems. I hope to help students improve their standardized test scores and their understanding of the math and sciences so that they can achieve their academic goals!
I'm a graduate of Princeton University (2009), with a degree in Comparative Literature. I'll be receiving my masters degree in English from Grand Valley State University this fall and I'm looking forward to working with students like you! I've been teaching and tutoring students since 2008 and I specialize in English, Reading, Writing, Essays, and College Entrance Test Prep.
I'm an Iowa native who moved to Nashville for graduate school. My background is in the life sciences; I have a Masters from Vanderbilt in Chemical and Physical Biology, and my undergraduate degree is in Biochemistry. However, my education has been well rounded and I have interests in philosophy, literature, writing, and history. I have extensive research experience, and I hope to share my passion for science with students. I have experience mentoring undergraduate students during my graduate school education to help them gain research experience. I am a very patient teacher and have the ability to see problems from the students perspective; my tutoring style adapts to each student's individual needs, but centers on getting each student to come to their solutions rather than following any one formula for success. I have a lot of experience with standardized testing, and have taken multiple AP subject tests in addition to the ACT, SAT, and GRE examinations.
I'm a sophomore at Vanderbilt University studying computer science, currently focusing on iOS and game development. I like growing as a person, but I find it much more interesting and rewarding to grow other people. Seeing a student change, not in intellect but in perspective, is fascinating. I like to focus more on concepts rather than memorization so that students will have the tools to excel in any facet of academia, beyond some random test that holds too much significance.
I am currently a sophomore pursuing a bachelor of arts degree in Medicine, Health, and Society. Being a student, Ive understood the frustration of not knowing what to do or who to turn to in the moment I dont understand something. This feeling can be very disheartening, but having the right person to guide you can make all the difference. For struggling students, I want to be that person to help them reach their full potential. In high school, I tutored people (mostly high school students like myself at the time) within the community, and it was personally rewarding every time I saw a student gain confidence in their studies.
I am a student at Vanderbilt University, majoring in Neuroscience while on the pre-med track. In the future, I hope to become a pediatrician. I have experience with and tutor in a wide range of subjects, and am most passionate about helping students with standardized exams. I know from personal experience that any exam score can be improved with studying and practice, no matter how frustrating or impossible it may seem. As a tutor, my goal is to listen to and address my students' needs as thoroughly as possible. Outside of academics, I love to fold origami, watch Criminal Minds, and hang out with my dog.
I am a Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology graduate and currently attend Vanderbilt University majoring in Computer Engineering with a minor in Business. I've tutored in various subjects for about 6 years now. I've done it so much, one of the companies I started was tutoring-based. In all, I am a technology-oriented entrepreneur, an impact-driven member of the community, and a striving academic. My passion for computer engineering and dedication to solving the world's problems push me to continue to be better tomorrow than I am today. I am currently pursuing a career in engineering and business where I hope to improve the lives of those around me every step of the way.
I am a veteran college chemistry professor with a Ph.D. from Yale who has taught Organic Chemistry and General Chemistry I many times. I have also taught Introductory Chemistry to students who had never had chemistry before and also a General, Organic, and Biochemistry course for health professions. I look at chemistry as a set of skills to be learned, similar to learning a sport or a musical instrument. I can show you what to do, but to really learn you need to do things yourself.
I am a recent graduate of Vanderbilt University where I received a BS in Human and Organizational Development. I also minored in Quantitative Methods and have a passion for statistics. I have spent time living in France and England and love to travel. My time abroad has cultivated a love of language and writing and how to use academic tools in order to create opportunities in life beyond the classroom. I am excited about helping students achieve their academic and personal goals.

With an average student-teacher ratio of 13.8:1 in Knoxville schools, many students benefit from personalized 1-on-1 instruction to fill gaps and accelerate learning. They tailor instruction to help students master grade-level skills, prepare for state assessments, and build confidence in areas where they're struggling.
Your first session is an opportunity for the tutor and student to get to know each other and identify specific learning goals. The tutor will assess your student's current level, discuss challenges they're facing, and create a personalized plan to address those areas—whether that's homework help, test prep, or building foundational skills.
That's entirely up to you. Some Knoxville families prefer one tutor who can help across multiple subjects, while others connect with different tutors for specialized support in math, science, or English. Students across Knoxville seek help with math and English language arts most frequently, especially during transitions between grade levels or when preparing for standardized tests.
