I am a dental student at University of Missouri-Kansas City and I will graduate with a DDS in 2025. I have benefitted immensely from study groups, peer workshops, and online resources during my time in undergrad, so I know how much a little extra work can help in the long run. I am excited to work with you to make your English, reading, writing, biology, or psychology goals a reality! When I'm not doing school stuff, I love to read, hang out with my foster cats, and spend time outside.

I'm an energetic and experienced ESL teacher with an extensive background in teaching middle and high school, as well as college. I love helping people reach their goals - that's why I became a teacher! I believe in a wholistic approach, where we work on communicating and listening in tandem. All our lessons will be fun and tailored to what you need.
I am a high school graduate from The Pembroke Hill School in Kansas City, Missouri and currently studying at Washington University in St. Louis in the class of 2024. Through my high school's Spanish program, I tutored students just two years below my level of Spanish. And through our debate program, for my sophomore, junior, and senior years, I mentored students new to the activity. I have always seen helping other students as an opportunity of growth, not only for that student, but for myself as well. I feel that I am qualified to tutor all middle and most high school levels of math, chemistry, and Spanish. As for standardized tests, I am most oriented towards the ACT. My favorite subject to learn and tutor is Math because it allows the student an opportunity to understand a concept much deeper than the surface. And that is my focus for when I learn a concept or teach a concept: understanding not only the what but the how and why as well.
I am originally from the suburbs of St. Louis, MO, and I attended Rockhurst University for my undergraduate degree. I obtained a Bachelor of Arts in French & Education with a minor in English Literature. I am also currently working towards a Master of Arts in French at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. I am certified to teach French K-12 in the state of Missouri (and have the qualifications for Kansas). I enjoyed teaching at both the middle school and the high school level as part of my training. During my undergraduate studies, I tutored both writing and French. I am now substitute teaching at a French immersion school in the area, and I had fun teaching grades 2nd and 5th there over the summer. I am available to tutor English grammar, literature, writing, math up to Algebra 1, all levels of French, and test prep (including ACT). As someone with an appreciation for languages, I especially like tutoring English and French. Since I am a certified teacher, I am prepared to present information in a variety of ways to help my students with understanding. Additionally, I like to help my students take responsibility for their own learning during our sessions. Aside from teaching, I enjoy spending time with my roommates and our animals, watching shows and movies, going to sporting events, and taking advantage of the nice weather outdoors.
I am a High School Science Teacher for the Smithville School District. I have experience teaching AP Chemistry, Honors and General Chemistry, and Honors and General Biology, Forensic Science, Biomedical Science, and Anatomy & Physiology.
I am currently working on a Biotechnology degree after changing from an Aerospace Engineering degree after getting married. I have extensive experience in Mathematics and Science, and I am a very capable writer as well. I can tutor nearly any S.T.E.M course up through highschool (and some college), along with English and grammar - more specifically paper writing - up to an early college level.
I am interested in Physics and Mathematics and working out practical problems from plumbing to electronics. I will someday go back for my Ph.D. in Physics but until then I am looking to grow as an engineer or computer programmer.
I am a certified English teacher and Principal in the State of Missouri. I believe that students are under more pressure than ever to succeed in school. However, due to the ever increasing class sizes that some of the best schools are experiencing students are not able to receive the personal attention that some of them need to be at their best. That is why tutoring can be so valuable. I am able to work one on one with a student which allows me to devote all my time to helping them with their particular problems. I am able to help students understand what it is they are being asked to do, assist them in accomplishing it and finally, provide them the ability to recall the information for future use.
I am a graduate of Rockhurst University where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a minor in English Literature. Upon graduating, I became certified to teach both elementary education (grades 1-6) and English Language Arts (grades 5-9) in the state of Missouri. I have spent the past two years teaching seventh grade reading and writing, and I have loved every minute of it! Not only do I love helping my students understand new concepts in my subject areas, but I also really enjoy sharing literature, both classics and new fiction, with them in hopes it will foster a love of reading. I believe in the power of literature to spark critical thinking and help students make meaningful connections to their lives and the lives of others. It may come as no surprise that one of my chief hobbies is reading; I try to read fifty new novels every year, many of which I can then recommend to my students! I tutor a broad range of subjects, most notably English, Literature, and ACT/SAT Test Preparations, but regardless of what I am tutoring, my teaching philosophy and style stems from building relationships with my students. While I have a great innate desire to help the next generation learn and succeed, I realize that the first step to doing so is getting to know my students and their individual needs. Only then can I create truly meaningful, relevant, and applicable lessons and tutoring sessions that will help them learn and grow. My passion is to help students realize their potential as life-long learners and help them succeed as they navigate their educational paths.
I'm hoping to use this summer to help someone else get ahead academically. I've tutored college-level biology courses at Mizzou, but am comfortable with a variety of science courses at any level.
I am a student at the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Medicine. In high school I was top 3% of my graduating class, part of the National Honor Society, Varsity Soccer Team Captain, and a member of the A Capella and Chamber Choir. My goal is help students not only do well in their desired subjects, but to understand why it is important. I look forward to working with you!

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Kansas City has 24 school districts serving over 69,000 students across 204 schools, and Varsity Tutors connects students from all of them with personalized 1-on-1 instruction. Whether your student attends a Kansas City Public Schools campus, a charter school, or a private institution, tutors can support their specific curriculum and academic goals.
Tutors work with students to master Missouri's grade-level standards in math, reading, science, and social studies. They diagnose gaps in foundational skills and build targeted instruction around what your student needs, whether that's preparing for state assessments, strengthening core concepts, or advancing ahead of grade level.
Math and reading support are the most requested subjects, especially in elementary and middle grades where foundational skills impact all future learning. High school students in Kansas City frequently seek help with algebra, geometry, chemistry, and test preparation for the ACT and SAT. Varsity Tutors also connects students with tutors in foreign languages, writing, science, and social studies.
The tutor will assess your student's current level, understand their learning style, and identify specific areas where they need support. This initial session sets the foundation for a personalized learning plan tailored to your student's goals—whether that's improving grades, building confidence, or mastering a challenging concept.
While Kansas City's average student-teacher ratio is 12.7:1, personalized 1-on-1 instruction allows tutors to focus entirely on your student's unique needs, pace, and learning style. This focused attention helps address gaps quickly, build confidence, and accelerate progress in ways that larger classroom settings can't match.
Varsity Tutors offers flexible pricing based on the tutor's expertise, your student's subject, and the frequency of sessions. Most families start with 1-2 sessions per week and adjust based on their student's progress and needs. We recommend discussing your budget and goals during the matching process to find a tutoring plan that works for your family.
We connect you with tutors who have expertise in your student's subject and understand their grade level and learning needs. You can discuss your student's specific challenges, preferred learning style, and goals before confirming the match, ensuring a good fit from day one.
Many students show noticeable improvement in confidence and understanding within 2-4 weeks of consistent tutoring. Academic grade improvements often follow as foundational skills strengthen. The timeline depends on your student's starting point, the subject, and how frequently they receive tutoring—regular sessions yield faster results than sporadic ones.
