Who is ready for some mathematics? I know math for some can be difficult, but with the right teacher, anything is possible! Believe it or not, I used to hate math back in middle school, and I struggled with it. Then, I had a teacher who opened my eyes to the world of mathematics! I am hoping I can be that tutor for you. Changing perspective is something I enjoy doing and helping others is definitely a passion of mine. I also love to organize, which allows me to have an edge on my tutoring abilities.

I just finished Medical School at Saint Louis University this year. I finished my undergraduate studies at Saint Louis University as well, majoring and minoring in Investigative Medical Sciences and Biology, respectively. During my studies, I have tutored in multiple settings. I have volunteered for an organization called UrbanFuture; the majority of my work consisted of preparing middle school students for MAP testing. I have also tutored students with high school homework at Ranken Jordan Pediatric Hospital. Although I am qualified to teach SAT/ACT Writing, my passion lies in the field of mathematics: ACT/SAT geometry, College Algebra, Basic Calculus.I believe that improvement comes with patience and persistence. By truly communicating with a student and understanding where he/she is struggling, we can insure improvement by teaching from the basics. I try to invoke in my students my passion for education and all of its opportunities.During my spare time, I like to play pick-up soccer, basketball, and table tennis. I also enjoy drumming, listening to all types of music, and socializing with my friends.

I love Science and hold Bachelor of Science Degrees in Chemistry and Biochemistry. I could be that nerd that they base TV characters on, though I have excellent communication skills. Teaching has always come easily to me, and my students claim to learn well from my flexible teaching styles. I can effectively relate the material to students' lives so they can understand it in their own terms. If the student doesn't reach the answer on his own, then it won't be meaningful or committed to memory. I find a way to lead with questions so the students can feel the small triumphs of answering questions on the road to learning how to solve problems on their own.

I'm currently an undergraduate student at MIT, studying Computer Science. I'm relatively new to tutoring but I like seeing people learn and helping them along that process. I lean towards Math and Computer Science (especially the more conceptual, proof-based aspects of these fields) because I like the challenge of solving problems. As such I try to emphasize understanding of underlying concepts to optimize both long-term information retention and usefulness.Outside of Academia I'm interested in Taekwondo, Calisthenics, Music Production, Gaming, entrepreneurship, and trying out new things. I want to be able to do a backflip and run a mile in under five minutes. Learning languages has been a hobby of mine for a while as well, but I haven't had the time as of recent. I'm thinking of learning some German in the near future though.

After finishing my first semester at the University of Arizona, my adviser sat me down and told me to start cheering because I was done taking math courses forever. I wanted to cry! I realized that day that I wanted math to be a part of my life forever, and that was the day I decided to become a high school math teacher. I've tutored in math since my freshman year of high school for ages ranging from 7 to 21. I love math and science for myself, but even more, I love the feeling of sharing my passion with others. I love the moment when students begin understanding a subject! The second their brain goes from confusion and hopelessness to understanding and excitement is the most valuable experience I have had as a tutor! I tutored through my private high school, Phoenix Christian, and currently privately tutor in Math 100-129 and Chemistry 151/2 at the University of Arizona. I love teaching using my degree is Mathematics with an emphasis in education as I want to become a high school teacher and eventually a college professor!
