I am currently a student at Rutgers University pursuing a degree in Public Health with a focus on health education and nursing. My very first job in college was tutoring at-risk high school students in math and the SAT exam. Since then, I have enjoyed working with students and find that mentoring students and seeing them succeed is important to me. My favorite subjects to teach have always been Algebra, Geometry, and SAT Math because my teaching style involves creative techniques, tips, and tricks that students find more enjoyable and easier to understand. I also teach a broad range of subjects that are of interest to me, including English, Essay Writing, ESL, and Biology. Hi! I am an alumnus of the Bronx High School of Science and a rising sophomore at Macaulay Honors at Baruch College. I first started to tutor when I was in middle school. I assisted elementary school students that were either relatives or family friends. I continued my passion for teaching in high school, guiding many students through a variety of standardized tests from Kindergarten to 8th grade including the Gifted and Talented examination and the Common Core ELA and Math assessments. When I became a upperclassman, I began tutoring students at a private tutoring company for Regents exams primarily in math subjects and for the SHSAT exam. Finally, I became a manager with a goal of increasing student performance by ensuring that all classes at the tutoring center were accurately and efficiently being taught.

I am an alumnus of Iowa State University where I received my Bachelor of Architecture. Upon graduation, I relocated to Atlanta, Georgia and after becoming a licensed Architect I finally attained my dream of living in New York City! Now that I have established myself within my career, I am motivated to reconnect with the academic community through tutoring. Mathematics was always my favorite subject in school and while attending college I briefly tutored Trigonometry by leading peer facilitated group sessions. In these meetings, and in my career, I have practiced a variety of problem-solving techniques that have helped me excel within my profession and I plan on integrating them into our lessons. Outside of my professional pursuits I enjoy running, reading, photography and exploring the concrete jungle of New York City while trying every delicious cuisine it has to offer.

The secret is that one can never succeed in math without practice.Badminton and Piano are two of my best friends. I learned piano from the age of 3 and I can play by ear now. I was also professionally trained badminton during my high school and achieved 2nd level national athlete in China.However, the characteristic that makes me special is my experience. I left home and came to California without a penny in my pocket. I have worked from a dishwasher to math tutor, from cashier to data analyst. While I am doing the hard work as a minimum wage worker, there has been a voice telling me -- Michael, you will not end up with that, you must study as hard as you can to earn a better life. I successfully survived in California, graduated from college and I am currently working as Actuarial Analyst.
