Hi! My name is Michael, and I love helping students learn about Spanish language and culture. I also enjoy listening to and making music as well as doing yoga. I am a graduate from Virginia Tech with a B.A. in Spanish Language & Literature and a Minor in Music Technology, and I completed a semester abroad in Quito, Ecuador at La Universidad San Francisco de Quito. I currently work as a high school permanent substitute teacher in Virginia Beach, VA, so I am used to working with a wide range of students in various subjects, though my favorite is Spanish.

I am passionate about figuring out how to help students find their strengths. I enjoy helping students create goals and self-motivation. I have worked with students of all ages. Most of my experience is with kindergarten and first grade students. Currently, I work with high school students. I have a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Special Education from Radford University.I tutor special education, reading, writing, phonics, elementary school subjects, and study skills. I teach to student interests and strengths. I like to find fun music, games, and different ways to help students remember the content.Outside of teaching and tutoring, I enjoy riding horses and spending time with my family. I also like going to the beach.

At Norfolk State University, I began tutoring entry level science courses as a Dozoretz National Institute of Mathematics and Applied Sciences scholar and enjoyed participating in the Minority Association of Pre-Health Students and the Caribbean Student Association. I also tutored undergraduate level courses to ranging from English to Calculus in our Student Support Services. Off campus, I worked with middle school and high school adolescents in the Advancement Via Individual Determination program.I enjoy helping students cultivate the desire to learn and understand the material. My primary goal is to assist in the the question development process and build students' confidence in themselves. My method of coaching students' to ask the "right" questions, he or she is not overwhelmed by the material or feel inadequate due to their disconnect between topcs in a particular subject matter.

I spent the past year as a teaching assistant in Bordeaux, France - my job was to supplement teachers' lessons with more hands-on, interactive sessions with students aged 6 to 14. I my experience makes me an excellent tutor in both English and French, as I know how to keep students interested and engaged in the subject matter while still adhering to a strict curriculum.

I am a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University with a B.S. in Mathematics and will be starting my M.S. in Physics at Old Dominion University in the fall. I am an experienced tutor, having tutored regularly throughout high school and undergrad. When working with a student, my primary goal is to aid them in understanding how to learn mathematics. Doing so ensures not only that they will understand the given material, but also that they will be prepared for topics that they will encounter in the future.

I received my PhD in Higher Education from Regent University. I also earned a MA in Government and an M.Ed.I enjoy teaching anything, but really love English and political science courses, especially Political Philosophy and American government. I currently teach undergraduate courses in English, government, and education.I love to learn something new every day and I encourage all of my students to do the same. I know that some subjects are not the most interesting to every student, but I do my best to make each topic applicable to real life. I also make sure it is fun- because if you're going to learn something it may as well be enjoyable.I know that all students learn differently, so I incorporate a number of different teaching methods to ensure that I reach all students. I am very hands on and encourage my students to ask lots of questions.When I'm not being a super nerd, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.

I am a graduate of George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Global Affairs with a focus on International Development. While in college I completed a study abroad program in Peru where I was able to develop my knowledge of cultural anthropology. I served as a nanny and homework helper throughout college which sparked my passion for tutoring.I like to focus tutoring on critical thinking and giving the student the tools to problem solve on their own. From this method, the student's confidence grows and they become more open to learning. This is a gateway into content mastery. With the tools to find the answers on their own, students can delve deeper into the information that they are learning.

I love to teach. My educational background is mainly in Law (Panama and England), as well as a Human Relations Master form OU. I have worked as an AVID tutor, as a bilingual middle school teacher, and as an ESL and English tutor in several countries and states. As such I have taught Math, Science, and Social Studies. But I must say that my favorite subjects are languages.As a lifelong student of languages myself, I understand most of the challenges that come with studying them as well as the joys. I am an educated native Spanish speaker, and I am completely fluent in English, French and Italian. I have also studied Russian, Chinese, and Japanese. Having lived in France, Italy, and Japan I am also very familiar with their culture.After meeting my students, I tailor my lesson plans to the student needs and preferences. I am also experienced in following an establish curriculum if necessary. I believe in a fun and engaging class, where I try to incorporate current relevant subjects as well as practical and useful ones.I look forward to meeting you.
