Despite the years of textbook knowledge and medical training, critically necessary foundations that allow physicians to recognize common symptoms of disease and provide medical therapy, there must be an understanding of how to apply this vast amount of information. I hope to help strengthen the knowledge of others and most importantly to assist in the ability to apply this knowledge in the medical field, which starts in the classroom.

Discovering how you learn is as important as the actual subjects you wish to learn. I believe that my students best succeed when they develop an awareness of their educational strengths and weaknesses. I believe in emphasizing healthy study routines, the courage to learn from failure, and an openness to change.Like my students, I expect that I will also learn from my practice and refine my teaching style. I've always had a passion for science and want to utilize that energy to help students gain meaningful understanding of the subject. I grew up in the rural Midwest and did not have opportunities to attend prestigious schools. My parents worked hard to provide us that opportunity and this has granted me motivation throughout my career.
