Every day when my Dad would drop me off at school he said "Learn a lot, and ask good questions." I've stuck with that philosophy for every aspect of life; questioning rather than accepting, being critical rather than passive. This has helped enormously with learning. When I question something, it deepens my interest and my involvement with an intellectual matter.
When I tutor I do not see myself as a master with knowledge to impart to students, but rather, I am a facilitator for students to discover knowledge on their own. My experience as a tutor in undergrad and as a Math tutor with K - 12 students has put me in contact with people from all walks of life. I do my best to style my facilitating to the style of each student.
