In today's session we reviewed for the student's math test, which covered multiplication and division of fractions. He was struggling the most with dividing fractions and figuring out which operation to conduct in word problems. We went over these many times as well as concrete ways for him to check his work. I find that he was having a hard time drawing and interpreting pictures/models of fractional concepts. I think good follow up will be to present these in images so that he can really understand the concept. By the end of the session, he had greatly improved with checking his work and recognizing which operation to use in word problems.

We began by completing a math assignment. The main concepts in this math assignment consisted of ratios, cross products, and equivalencies. The student did very well with all of these concepts. The next subject that we covered was science. He did very well with identifying simple machines and computing both mechanical advantage and mechanical efficiency. The student continues to improve with his ability to solve word problems and work through more complex problems. We finished the session by completing assignments in both social studies and Spanish, as well as studying for tests in both.

Today we covered double line graphs, multiplying mixed numbers and fractions, multiplying mixed numbers, dividing fractions, and dividing decimals. The student needed a little review with multiplying mixed numbers/fractions when in the form of word problems, as well as review with dividing decimals.

Tonight, the student and I worked on reviewing for her test in English and read her weekly story for reading.

The student worked on her chemistry lab. I helped her understand the various steps associated with the scientific method and how that applied to her lab. We also reviewed some of her math homework.

The student needed some help understanding the different equations used to model the equations of growth in precalculus. I boiled it down to the linear model, the N compound formula, the exponential model, and the continuous compound formula. He was able to complete problems of all those types before the end of the session.
