Before I realized how much I enjoy teaching, I've known my whole life I love learning. Having those two qualities as a tutor are important and go hand in hand. Patience is also very much needed. I've been told by many that I am a very calm person, even when things are stressful. Aside from tutoring, I also work in the veterinary field. Therefore, staying calm during critical and stressful situations is crucial.
Being patient towards students is not difficult for me because I understand that we all come from different backgrounds. I also admire and appreciate diversity because without it, we would not know many of the things we all know today (in and outside the classroom).
During college up until now, I've worked with students from various learning backgrounds and many parts of the world. I have tutored ESL college students, remedial level students, children, and adult college students. I tutored and taught subjects: English, Spanish, Writing, Life Sciences (Elementary and Middle Schools), Veterinary Science and College level writing. I will also be more than happy to tutor students that need help in any subjects closely related to the ones listed.
I know how challenging it may be to understand certain classes as a child and even as an adult. My first language was Spanish and needed to study extra hard because my mom does not know much English. As much as she wanted to help me out with my schoolwork, she was unable to. The language barrier was in the way. However, I managed to do well in all of my classes thanks to my teachers, the nonstop support from my parents and tutors. I also managed to be the only one in my family to earn a Master's degree so far. I have also been the first one in the family to receive acceptance into a Doctorate's program. I promise I am not bragging :) ...but I am proud of my accomplishments because I had the support I needed and I give a lot of credit to the people that helped me. I encourage any student to not be afraid of the challenges. The challenges are what make us all stronger. Everyone is entitled to a well rounded education and is entitled to having the same kind of support I had.
Due to all the hard work and progress I've made throughout my life, I have been able to live and work in various places such as New York City and several cities in Texas. This also allowed me to meet wonderful people that have also taught me so much about life!
During my spare time, I enjoy traveling, art, ice skating, playing the violin, making and drinking coffee, learning new languages, learning and caring for animals, reading, and of course, spending time with my family and friends.
Please let me know how I can help you. I am looking forward to meeting you!
