I am a third year Cornell student studying English Literature and Feminist Studies with a minor in Law and Society. Once I graduate, I plan on pursuing a career in law/public policy.
In my free time I like to take part in social activism through student organizations, such as Planned Parenthood Generation Action, ConsentEd, and Cornell Sexual Violence Prevention Network. I also write and edit for an intersectional feminist magazine, the Revival Zine, at Cornell.
I have a lot of experience in tutoring high school students and assisting with the college application process. I attended University of Washington and then transferred to Cornell after my freshman year. As a transfer student, I went through the application process twice and am particularly experienced in writing strong college applications.
I can also assist high school students in preparing for the SAT and the AP Literature exams. I scored a 1470/1600 on my SAT (770/800 English) and am well versed in reading comprehension and grammar. In AP Literature I received a 5/5 and, as a Literature major, I have greatly expanded my relevant skills at the college level. I am particularly experienced in tutoring AP Literature students.
I also have experience in supporting fellow college students with written assignments and reading comprehension in a variety of subjects. In particular, I have taken college courses in Comparative Literature, African American Literature, Marxist Literature, Feminist and LGBTQ Literature, Ancient Greek and Roman Literature, Medieval Literature, Speculative Fiction, Decadent Literature, and Literary Theory. I have also maintained an A average throughout my time at Cornell.
I hope to tutor students of all ages in a variety of reading and writing subject areas. I love working one on one with people and working towards their learning goals. I believe I can utilize the skills I have developed throughout my educational career to support other students in achieving their goals.
