I am a rising junior at Wesleyan University studying English Literature and Composition, Data Science and Critical Theory. I've done a lot of academic and creative writing, public speaking, debate, spoken word poetry and stand-up comedy--I'm fascinated with communication and language of many forms, and have a sharp eye for improving writing on an argumentative, analytical, grammatical or creative level. I simply love words.
I first began teaching as an academic summer program teaching assistant in Debate, Math and English. I discovered a deep passion for teaching of all kinds. I love imparting knowledge onto people, but what really makes me happy is having my students restructure and synthesize the information themselves--I believe having students try and explain what they learn, and teach ME the solutions to their problems is the most effective way to learn, and makes the tutoring process much more engaging.
I tutor everything related to English and writing, especially SAT and ISEE test prep, college essays and general essay/creative writing workshopping. I try and help students write and take tests the way they know how while using the strategies and techniques that I know work. Tutoring should always be a dialog.
