I am a junior at Hunter College working towards my bachelor's degree in Political Science with a double minor in English and Gender Studies. I am in both the Roosevelt Scholars Public Policy Institute and the Thomas Hunter Honors Program and am the editor in chief of a campus literary magazine. In my native California, I spent a year tutoring elementary school children with the Boys and Girls Club and helped to found an after-school tutoring club for 4th, 5th, and 6th grade girls at Leataata Floyd Elementary School. I have also worked with the Parent Teacher Home Visit Project, an educational nonprofit that works to build bridges between local communities and school districts. I believe in education as necessary to personal success and fulfillment and take a patient, friendly approach to helping each person achieve their academic goals. I am passionate about English, American History and SAT preparation, and believe in utilizing the student's current knowledge and interests to raise test scores and study the strategies that will help them throughout their academic career.
When I'm not in school or tutoring, I like to eat tamales, listen to music, and play the occasional game of pick-up basketball.
