I graduated from Cumberland School of Law, Samford University in Birmingham, AL in May 2014. Prior to law school, I studied Political Science and Economics at Birmingham-Southern College also in Birmingham. I love studying politics, government, and history. From an early age, the saying "those who do not study history, are doomed to repeat it" always struck a chord in me. I love learning about U.S. History, and how it shapes who we are today, not only as a country, but as a whole society and can also show us where we are heading in the future.
A few little things about me. I already mentioned I love history, so it shouldn't come as a shock that I can name all the U.S. Presidents in order both backwards and forwards. I love sports, especially baseball and the Atlanta Braves. I've been a Braves fan for as long as I can remember. I enjoy playing fantasy football, and if you ask my wife, I probably enjoy it a little too much. I have a 2 year old border collie/ shepherd mix named Darcy. I love action movies, especially the James Bond series, and I tear through John Grisham books. For my money, there is no better feeling than when a quality fountain pen flows with ease along well made paper.
A little about my tutoring style. I consider myself more of a guide than an answer checker. Perhaps its more to do with the subjects I tutor, but I've found that simply telling someone the answer doesn't do them any good. Sure, in the short run they have the answer, but in the long run they lose out on the skill to answer future questions. I believe in guiding a student to an answer, not just giving it too them. Its like the parable "give a man a fish, he eats for a day, but teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime." I view my job as a tutor to teach students not only the subject, but the skills to answer the question themselves.
I would welcome to opportunity to work with your student.
