I attended Long Beach State University. I received a BA in English Education with an emphasis in Creative Writing. I was accepted into the credential program at Long Beach State. I finished the program with student teaching at Cypress High School, working with seniors and sophomores. The following year, I taught 7th grade at Hamilton Middle School in Long Beach. The next two years, I taught 7th and 8th grade at Lathrop Middle School in Santa Ana. In my second year there, I taught a writing class in partnership with University of California, Irvine. While in college, I tutored many students. I, also, tutored students at both schools where I taught. English is my preferred subject to tutor (composing essays, reading comprehension, creative writing, and grammar skills).
I know that practice and encouragement are key when trying to learn and succeed. We will clearly establish our expectations and goals at the beginning of each session. Sessions will play to a student's strengths, and I will base teaching and studying strategies on their differing learning modalities.
When not reading, I enjoy watching movies and baking. I love classic cars and even did a frame up restoration of a '53 Ford pickup with my dad. I am now working at the NFL on Sundays, so obviously I love football. In high school, I played on the varsity tennis team and was a part of Associated Student Body and Peer Assistance Leadership. During high school, I worked at Disneyland, and now I enjoy taking my daughter there. I love traveling, both by plane and car. My new dream destination is Ireland... or Australia.
