I am a graduate of Washburn University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, majoring in Accounting and Finance. Since graduation, I've worked in the banking/financial services industry in quality assurance and audit roles. Several years ago I made a transition to IT quality assurance, bridging the gap between accounting/finance and the fasted-paced world of technology. My passion is learning about new technologies and how we use them to help us learn and grow. At Washburn and in my professional career, I've enjoyed opportunities to mentor students and new hires, and provide tutoring in math, accounting, finance, application development or technology subjects. I've passed several standardized tests (i.e., ACT, CPA, CISA), and would love to pass on these test-taking tips and tricks to my students.
The philosophy I live by is simple - "Knowledge is power!" I'm a strong believer that it's ok to struggle with a subject... yet embracing the challenge until it "clicks" makes the experience incredibly rewarding. I strive to pass on this approach to my students and mentees, and can't wait to get started!
