I have been teaching in multiple areas of the music field for five years, from one-on-one tutoring to teaching full classes. I earned three Bachelor's degrees (music performance, education, and theory) from the University of Idaho along with a minor in jazz studies. I am currently working towards my Master's degree in trumpet performance with a certificate in music theory pedagogy at UMass-Amherst. I absolutely love working with students on the fundamentals of being a musician, be it theory at any level, ear training, or just enhancing musical performance. It is my teaching philosophy that students need an environment in which to feel comfortable enough to make mistakes, as they are a critical part of learning. Being extremely well-versed in the fundamentals of music allow you to adapt your knowledge to fit any scenario, and that is my goal as a teacher.
