I believe that people are in some ways, are made like trees: some trees produce fruit - contributing to society through the creation of things or having children and others provide shade - giving protection to others from the harsher elements of life. A person who is a shade tree looks for ways to serve others by providing shelter, i.e. a ride to work or just a few meals because funds are tight. Even in adverse circumstances, I have always been a shade tree and my desire to become a teacher goes back over 30 years.

Currently, I am a middle school special education teacher at a local school in our area of Lynchburg. I am the proud mother of twin teenage daughters who attend high school. One of my daughters loves to dance and the other loves to play soccer.
