Academically, my specialities are middle school math (grades 4-8), middle school science (grades 6-8), pre-algebra, algebra 1 and high school and college level biology and anatomy and physiology. I also really enjoy undergrad immunology and microbiology.
Instructionally, I have worked with learners from one, some, or all seven of the major learning styles. They have had a wide variety of capabilities, motivators, and challenges when learning. From that low, I have learned that all people can learn; I just need to find out how they learn.
Professionally, I am a certified special education teacher for students with severe and/or moderate disabilities and a middle school math and science teacher. However, I have taught and/or tutored people beyond school age and in all academic subjects (reading, writing, math, science, social studies, history). [*Disclaimer: When tutoring all subjects the curriculum is equivalent to an 8th grade and lower. This includes GED tutoring. In math and science, I can tutor beyond 8th grade.]
*** Special Skills. I know quite a bit about academic accommodations and modifications, as well as processes for acquiring necessary accommodations for standardized testing.
