Learning can often be a difficult and aggravating experience, especially when it is accompanied by the constant pressure of having to meet some usually arbitrarily determined threshold for grade point average and test scores. While these things are still important, I think that it is important to first emphasize the experience of learning itself, because when that is good, the good grades usually will also follow.
