I graduated from Amherst College with a degree in English and a minor in theater. I believe that curiosity is the greatest test of intelligence and if you can foster that in a child you will have a life-long learner. I have been an avid reader since kindergarten, and even before, when I was read to by my parents, and if I can share the love of reading then I know I will have changed a person's life. The English language and English and American literature are my passions. I believe that fiction is one of the best ways to understand our own lives and the lives of others--what motivates us, what moves us, what changes us. In helping anyone, adult, teenager, or child, I believe in first finding out how they learn, and what they are already passionate about. I then modify my teaching style to fit their learning style, and try to find a way to tie their passions into what they are studying. I also believe in breaking things down into the smallest bites, even down to the title, first paragraph, or first sentence, and then building from there, just as one would with math or science. I still read for pleasure and to gain knowledge, I design and make clothing, I have worked as an actress and set and costume designer, and in my day job, as a marketer, and social media manager.
