I am currently retired from a career as a software engineer. In retirement I hope to challenge myself to renew many of the subject skills that I knew while getting my Mathematics Degree. I remember that while getting degrees the best way to learn any subject was to teach it to someone else. If you can increase some else's understanding of a subject you definitely understand it yourself.
