Born and raised in Miami, I went to the University of Miami where I majored in Art History and Anthropology. Since I love the arts, I want to continue my studies in Art Education. My dream is to start a non-profit organization that helps bring art to those who would not otherwise have access to it.
In the past I have led study groups, wherein my classmates and I took turns tutoring each other in the material. In addition to this, I have also led classes of small children in painting and arts & crafts. I tutor Art History, AP Art History, ACT and SAT Reading, English, Essay Editing, Test Prep, as well as Spanish. My favorite subject to tutor is Art History. I love exploring the intricacies and layers of what makes a work of art important. Because of the subjective nature of art, I also love tutoring the subject because students of art are able to consider differing points of view when studying any given work.
My teaching style is flexible to the wants and needs of the student. For example, when preparing for an upcoming exam in a topic a student may not feel confident in, I find it useful to first take on that challenging topic head on. Once the challenging concept is mastered, not only do students receive a confidence boost, but it also guarantees that they will be able to handle any other challenge that arises during a tutoring session. I believe that with patience and perseverance, tests don't stand a chance.
When not working or tutoring, I like to watch movies, read, and ride my bike. I have also recently taken up knitting as a hobby.
