I have recently graduated from the University of Hawaii at Manoa with a master's in Molecular Bioscience and Bioengineering. For my undergraduate degree, I attended the University of California, Santa Cruz where I received a B.S. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology in 2009. In between my degrees, I lived abroad in the Republic of Marshall Islands where I stayed with a host family and taught English at the local school. This experience taught me to be very self reliant as well as to improve my ability to connect with students who have a much different background than myself. After completing my English teaching experience, I moved to San Francisco where I was hired as an Americorps team member. While there, I helped run the Youth Stewardship Program, which provided free outdoor science education to all students in San Francisco. I am very passionate about sharing my scientific background with students and providing them an engaging educational experience. I have tutored elementary and middle school students in the past and have always found one on one teaching to be very productive. In addition to education, I enjoy being active and participating in sports and recreation. I hope to be a positive role model for any student that I mentor.
