I attended UC Riverside's Honors Program as a student under International Affairs and Middle Eastern Studies with my honor's thesis concentrating on legal reformation in Algeria. I am now a triple major at UCLA with my degrees in World Culture, Middle Eastern Studies, and Political Science with an emphasis in International Affairs. I have been published on my academic research and have presented world-wide in international conferences on women's rights. I am also the co-founder of the first Middle Eastern Student Center in the UC system and was an executive member of the Model United Nations club. I am preparing for law school and have done much work bringing topics of women's rights to the campus through academic events I directed. I also have a small business selling and designing scarves and have worked with children age 5 to high school. I enjoy reading and speaking publicly as well as advocating about the need for education in a multitude of subjects. I am easily approachable and am quite accepting as a person, and I am able to teach French, English composition, literature, and SAT English prep. My favorite subject would be English composition for I love the ways in which we can use rhetoric to build beautiful meanings in the forms of short stories and essays. I make it easy to understand the logistics of SAT exams and have also worked with ESL students in high school. I believe in the need to understanding more than simple word choice questions: rather, I believe it is the attitude and way of approaching exams that makes one successful. It is more than facts: it is the way we conceptualize answers and pull together all our knowledge to make a successful student. I also am a professional martial artist and compete in Shoto Kan karate, as well as spend time doing art/calligraphy, listening to world music, and eating Chinese/Japanese food with spices. I also love Boba and trying new things, so studying with me should be entertaining yet educational!
