I am a graduate of Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. I received my Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Spanish. During my time at Temple I traveled abroad to Spain and Dominican Republic. Through immersion programs I became better acquainted with the Spanish language and different Spanish-speaking cultures and their practices. After graduation I became a volunteer in Argentina. There I tutored children in English and helped their families to improve their unfortunate standards of living. These experiences, in addition to my academic background, have expanded my knowledge of the Spanish language by giving me a more authentic understanding of the language. I have spent the last three years teaching Spanish to middle school students in Baltimore city as I am a certified Spanish teacher.
Teaching gives me the opportunity to share my knowledge on a subject of which I am extremely passionate. As a second language learner, I understand the challenges involved in learning a new language. I use this to my advantage in teaching to work out different strategies in order to help my students achieve proficiency in their communication in Spanish. Through teaching I am able to adapt to the diverse learner needs in the classroom and I believe this has given my students the academic excellence they seek.
