Tutoring review by Jeremy in Pacific Palisades, CA
We worked for 90 minutes on a review sheet for the student's AIMS math class.  Because it was a review, there were a lot of topics to cover, and I noticed that it took him a little bit of time to warm up to the problems (it may have been months since the last time he saw some of these problems).  The focus on the review was geometry (angles, polygons, triangles).  After talking a bit and getting a head start on each problem, he had an easier time getting through.  I'm sure that on Thursday we'll continue the review, meaning we'll have a chance to build on the progress we made Tuesday.

After checking over the pages I'd asked the student to look at on her own, we finished the ACT English prep material. We had no trouble at all working through this subject matter, which was not surprising since the English section was her highest score on her past ACTs. I've asked her to take a practice test on her own under testing conditions, that is, in silence with a time limit. On Tuesday we will go over her results and wrap up for next Saturday's test date.

The student  and I worked on vocabulary from "Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry".  The student is practicing the skills needed to learn words from context.  He is  given a list of definitions,  and he is  to identify the correct definition for each context. We will continue to work with his vocabulary building skills.
